Robert L. McDowell, 73, of Bridgeport, formerly of Olney, died at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.

There will be no visitation. Graveside services with full military rites will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hanna Cemetery in rural Noble with Reverend Carroll Shouse officiating. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McDowell was born on April 8, 1927, in Noble, the son of Delbert and Stella (Daily) McDowell.

He was a retired iron worker. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and life member of DAV and VFW and a member of Eagles and American Legion.



Mr. McDowell is survived by two daughters, Cathryn Sue Allen, of Davenport, Florida, and Debra McCleave and her husband, George, of Olney; a son, Michael McDowell and his wife, Valarie, of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Virginia Kissen, of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Todd and Ross Allen and Mikie, and Chris and Cody McDowell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frank, Darrell and Charles.

Buried:

Betty (Bemont) McDowell , age 83 of Olney passed away May 16, 2015.

She was born to Dennis and Alda (Lomas) Bemont.

Betty was a member of the VFW. Betty enjoyed her home on Borah Lake and tending to her flower garden. She loved her family and took pleasure in spending time with her loved ones. She was the owner of the Red Door till her retirement then later she worked at Walmart part time for several years

Betty is survived by her daughter, Cathryn Sue "Susie" Allen of FL, son, Michael McDowell and wife Valerie Jean of Olney, daughter, Debra McCleave and husband George of Olney, grandchildren, Todd Allen, Ross Allen, Sgt. Robert Michael McDowell and wife Kristen, Christopher McDowell, Cody McDowell, great grandchild, Lilian Grace McDowell, sister, Virginia Ellison of Olney, sisters-in-law, Kay Bemont and Carolyn Bemont, cousin and best friend, Imogene Billingsley, and numerous nieces and nephews

Betty is preceded in death by parents, brothers, Robert Bemont, Joe Bemont, and Neal Bemont, and twin grandsons
