  Earl M. HERDES, 85, of Clay City, died at 3 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at the Clay County Hospital. Mr. HERDES was born on Feb. 3, 1910, in Clay County, the son of Charles and Ruby (BYRNE) HERDES. He married Lelia May MITCHEL in 1930. She died in 1994. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church. Surviving are one son, David HERDES, of Clay City; three daughters, Donna HERDES of Clay City, Dionne CREAMER of Louisville, and Darlene LAMBIRD of Clay City; one sister, Sadie EVANS of Clay City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, one sister and one grandson. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Sailor Springs Christian Church. Brother Larry SCHNAUTZ and Brother Neal KENLEY will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery, rural Clay City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Clay City. Memorials may be made to the Pine Haven or Oblong Children's Home.
