  William James Levitt was born to Noah Levitt (6-9-1799 to 1-9-1856) and Mary Phillips Levitt (10-22-1811 to 11-30-1898). He married Lydia Ann Wammack on 3-16-1854. They were staunch members of the Christian Church and good business people. They lived one mile east of Sailor Springs on Levitt Prarie, Pixley Township, Clay County, Illinois.
