James H. Kuenstler, 87, of Olney, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Olney, IL.
James was born on March 28, 1934 in Wendelin, IL the son of Henry A. and Georgiana H. (Rudolphi) Kuenstler. He married Peg (Wilkins) Kuenstler on January 17, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, and she survives.
Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He served for many years on the Richland County Fair Board. Jim began his career as the owner of City Service Gas Station and then worked for GTE. He later retired from Doll's Concrete after 30 years of service.
Jim was a people person who never met a stranger. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather. Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends.
James is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peg Kuenstler; Daughter, Kathy (Chris) Hursta of Olney; Son, Tony Kuenstler of Olney; Daughter, Teresa (Don) Hunt of Olney; Daughter, Suzanne (B.J. Stone) Kuenstler of Maud, TX; grandchildren, Desiree (Gerod) Briggs, Jamie (Michael) Brach, Tracy Smith, Em (Rachel) Hunt, Stacy (Brandon) Recco, and Jessie (Zach) Andrews, 15 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; brothers, Dan (Mary Ann) Kuenstler and Bill (Rita) Kuenstler; sister, Karen (Tom) Zuber; brother-in-law, Don Dallmier; sisters-in-law, Shirley Kuenstler and Jeanette Kuenstler; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred and Richard Kuenstler; sisters, Ruth (John) Bene, Lou Ann Dallmier, June (Bill) McGeehon; and infant sister, Norma Eugenia Kuenstler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, with a public visitation beginning one hour before at the church.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or St. Joseph Foundation Trust.
