    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on 2 February 1943 at Camp Grant, Illinois. Completed basic training and qualified as an Ambulance Orderly, military occupational specialty 696. Departed the Continental U.S.. on 5 December 1943 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to the 496th Medical Collection Company (Separate) and served through Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze battle stars and the WWWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged from the Medical Corps as a Private First Class on 14 December 1945 at Camp Grant, Illinois.

    Notes:

    Jake Yauch, 79, of Olney and Clay City, died Wednesday evening at the Richland Memorial Hospital.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Easley Funeral Home in Clay City with interment in Hanna Cemetery, northwest of Noble. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p. m. today.

    Mr. Yauch was born west of Noble and was a farmer in his early life. Later he moved to Clay City where he lived for a number of years. About 20 years ago, he moved to Olney and had lived here except for intermittent periods in Clay City.

    He is survived by his wife Blanche; three sons, Russell of Flora, Joseph of Kankakee, and Lawrence of Noble; three daughters, Mrs. Eileen Mayhill of West Liberty, Mrs. Bernice Payne and Mrs. Doris Krutsinger, both of Bradley; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

    A daughter, his parents, five sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
