Fritz was born on November 4, 1921, in Clay County, the son of Frank and Carrie (Schnautz) Thomann. He was the 6th of 7 children and was born in his parent’s home. He built another home for his parents and remained on the homestead as a dairy and grain farmer 7 miles northwest of Noble until he was 93.

He married Irene Burgener on December 1, 1946 at Saron Reform Church in Richland County. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2009 after they were married for over 60 years and had 7 children. At the age of 91, Fritz married Doris Hasler Everette. She preceded him in death 4 years later as they resided at Brookstone Estates.

Fritz and Irene and their 7 children as well as Doris and her 4 children all attended Glenwood Church in Noble. He was a member of Lincoln Landers Motorhome Association for many years. Fritz enjoyed playing cards, going bowling and spending time visiting with people. He never knew a stranger.

John married Burgener, Irene Elizabeth on 1 Dec 1946 in Saron Reform Church, Richland County, Illinois. Irene (daughter of Burgener, Christian G. and Sterchi, B.M.) was born on 25 Sep 1921; died on 8 Sep 2009 in Noble, Richland County, Illinois; was buried in North Freedom Cemetery, Noble, Richland County, Illinois. Irene Elizabeth (Burgener) Thomann, 87, of Noble, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at her home after a short battle with cancer.

His grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to him.
