    Leone Mayo Taylor, 92, of Clay City, died at 10:17 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    Mrs. Taylor was born on September 18, 1916, in Clay County, the daughter of Cleo and Edna (Wogan) Sullens.

    She married J.W. Casey Mayo on August 12, 1934. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1970. She married John Edward Taylor on February 3, 1973. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1997.

    She was a homemaker, seamstress and musician. She was affiliated with Clay City Community Baptist Church,

    Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Martin; son, Don Mayo; daughter, Doris Bissey; son, Jerry Mayo; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter, Rita Stanley; sister, Erba; and great-grandson, Cody Mayo.

    Visitation was held at Summers Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City.

    Services were at the funeral home with Pastor Gregg Hall officiating.

    Burial was in Clay City Cemetery.

    Cleo Elza Sullens was born in Crawford County, IL to Solomon and Rosabell Sullens September 16, 1892 and departed this life on April 15, 1959 at the age of 66 years, 6 months, and 29 days.

    On August 4, 1915 he was united in marriage to Edna Wogan and two children were born to this union. Leone and Erba (who passed away in infancy.)

    During the early years of his marriage he trusted Christ as his personal Saviour and with his wife united with the Sailor Springs Baptist Church. Several years ago he moved his membership to the Clay City Baptist Church. Through the years he was a faithful and willing member having served as deacon, trustee, superintendent of the Sunday School and music director.

    Four sisters, two brothers and his parents have preceded him in death. Besides his wife, Edna, and daughter, Leone Mayo, he leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, Mattie Miller and Anna Palmer; a brother, Everett; five grandchildren, Carolyn Martin, Don, Doris and Jerry Mayo; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of neighbors and friends.

    He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and to know him was to love him.

    Cleo married Wogan, Edna E. on 4 Aug 1915. Edna (daughter of Wogan, George Washington and Brassfield, Mary M.) was born on 17 Mar 1900 in Illinois; died on 18 Jan 1995 in Richland County Memorial Hospital, Olney, Richland County, Illinois; was buried on 20 Jan 1995 in Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Illinois.     Mrs. Sullens was born March 17, 1900, the daughter of George and Mary Brassfield Wogan. She married Cleo Sullens August 4, 1915. He passed away April 15, 1959.

    Edna is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leone Taylor; a sister, Pearl Conour; five grandchildren, Carolyn Martin, Doris Bissey, Don and Jerry Mayo, and Rita Stanley; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter and several brothers and sisters.

    Funeral services were held at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City.

    Burial was in the Clay City Cemetery.

    George Washington Wogan, son of John and Arminda Wogan, born in Worreck County, Indiana November 7, 1855, departed this life February 10, 1934 at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 3 days.

    For the past ten years he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Cleo Sullens. He had been in ill health for several years and had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks.

    In his earlier years he professed faith in Christ and united with the Christian church, remaining faithful to the end.

    He was united in marriage to Mary Brassfield March 3, 1888, who preceded him in death August 7, 1910.

    To this union was born seven children, two sons, Muriel and Floyd, and a daughter Blanche having preceded him in death.

    He leaves to mourn his departure, two sons, Arch and Hiram; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Conour and Mrs. Edna Sullens; a grand daughter, Leone Sullens, besides a host of relatives and friends.

    A precious one from us is gone.
    A voice we loved is still
    A place is vacant in our home,
    Which never can be filled.
    God in His wisdom has recalled
    The boon His love had given,
    And though the body slumbers here,
    The soul is safe in Heaven.

    Mary Brassfield was born June 13, 1872 and departed this life August 7, 1910 at the family home in Clay City.

    She was joined in holy wedlock to G. W. Wogan on the 3rd day of March 1888, to this union was born 7 children, three have preceded her in death and four remain to mourn their loss.

    She united with the Christian Church in Wabash County, Illinois, 1888 and placed her letter with the congregation here about a year ago. She lived a consistent Christian life.

    Funeral held in the family home in this city, Monday afternoon. Burial in IOOF Cemetery.

    She leaves a father & mother, one sister, a brother, husband and 4 children with a host of friends to mourn their loss.
