    Obituary
Kenneth Ray "Ken" Cummins, age 81, of Springtown, TX passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, in Decatur, TX.

Ken, known to his family as "Cotton", was born April 2, 1940, in Clay Lick, KY. After several years in "Cummins Holler", the family moved to Richmond, IN, where Ken met Lu Ella Maglone at Fairview Baptist Church in 1955. Ken won an Indiana state title while playing 3rd base for Richmond High, where he graduated in 1958. A few weeks following graduation, Ken married Lu Ella, with whom he shared life for 63 years.

Ken surrendered to God's call to ministry in 1962 while attending Westwood Baptist Church in Dayton, OH. He was faithful to this call throughout his lifetime, taking every opportunity to serve God and share His love.

In 1970, Ken and Lu, and their three boys, moved to Fort Worth, TX, where he studied church music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduation in 1972, Ken spent the next many years serving in a variety of ministry positions in Texas, Oklahoma, California, and Indiana. Ken's early years were spent serving as music and youth minister. However, most of Ken's time in ministry was serving as a pastor and teacher, and he found the most joy and fulfillment while sharing comfort and encouragement to anyone in need.

Through the years, Ken's "tentmaking" income was earned as a design engineer for several engineering firms, the last 25 of those years were spent with a flight simulator company before finally retiring in 2005.

Ken loved spending time with family, ministering the love of Jesus, singing, sports, horses, dogs, and anything that involved working or playing outdoors.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, William Nathan "Nate" Cummins, and his mother, Rittie Lee "Rita" Ballinger Cummins.

He is survived by his wife, Lu Ella Maglone Cummins; brother Tom (Ella) Cummins; sons: Steve Cummins; Mike (Lisa) Cummins, Rod (Paula) Cummins; eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A service will be held for friends and family to honor Ken on Thursday, April 7, 2022, 2:00PM, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 12351 Oak Grove Road South, Burleson, TX. He will be interred at Tye Cemetery, Burleson, TX.
