Gale H. Easley, 70, of Clay City, former owner of the Easley Funeral Home in Clay City and Noble, and the Easley Furniture Store in Clay City, passed away suddenly Saturday evening at OFallon.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Clay City Chapel of the Cardascio-Easley
Funeral Home at Clay City, with burial in the Clay City Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 28, 1901 at Dix.
Surviving is his wife, the former Doris Bones; a son, Gerald of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Carolyn) McKee of Charleston; two brothers, Glenn of Clay City and Elmer Jr. of San Angelo, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Nell Shannon and Mrs. Alfred (Cathryn) Peters, both of Clay
City, and Mrs. Fred (Georgia) Lindall of Clarksville, Ark.; and two grandchildren.
He was associated with his father, the late Elmer Easley, from 1930 to 1946 in operation of the Easley Furniture Store in Clay City and the Easley Funeral Homes in Noble and Clay City. From
1946 to 1968 he was associated in the businesses with J. L. Padgett. In 1968 Mr. Easley sold the furniture store but continued with the funeral homes until 1970 when he retired.
He was a member of the Clay City Grade School Board of Education for 21 years. He was also a member of Clay City Lodge 488 AF&AM, and the Flora Elks Lodge.
