    Red passed away in Lakeland, FL where he had gone on vacation. He is survived by his mother, Mary Barbara; wife, Shirley Murbarger Ausbrook; sons, Brad & Duane; and daughter Trudy.

    Arthur "Red" Ausbrook, 71, of Clay City, IL died at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL.

    Red was born on June 30, 1939 in Clay City, IL. He married Shirley J. Murbarger on January 24, 1958.

    Red's lifelong career was working in various positions in the oilfield, ranging from a "rough neck" on oil drilling rigs early in his career to Field Superintendent. Red was a longstanding member and past Chief of the Clay City Volunteer Fire Department and was in charge of the "brush" truck. He was an avid golfer and slow pitch softball player.

    He is survived by his wife, Shirley Murbarger Ausbrook; mother, Mary B. Ausbrook Bangert; children, Trudy Hunley, Brad Ausbrook, and Leo Duane Ausbrook; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his father-in-law (Leo Murbarger) and step-father (John Bangert).

    Funeral services were held at Clay City United Methodist Church in Clay City, IL with Pastor Mark Canada officiating.

    Burial was in the Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, IL.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Clay City Volunteer Fire Department or Clay City United Methodist Church.

    Shirley J. Ausbrook of Clay City, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.

    Shirley was born on February 3, 1939 in Clay City, IL to Leo and Vida E. Murbarger. She married Arthur E. "Red" Ausbrook on January 24, 1958. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2011.

    Shirley's career was a teacher in the Clay City Unit 10 School District from 1971 to 1995 where she influenced 1,000's of students. She was a member of the Clay City United Methodist Church.

    She is survived by her mother, Vida E. Murbarger; children, Trudy Hunley, Brad Ausbrook, and Leo Duane Ausbrook; sisters: Marilyn Helburn, Phyllis Koss, and Carolyn Sunday; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Murbarger, and husband, Red Ausbrook.

    The funeral service for Shirley was held at the Clay City United Methodist Church in Clay City, IL.

    Burial followed in the Clay City Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to Clay City Fire Department or Clay City United Methodist Church.

    Leo Murbarger died at the Clay County Hospital in Flora.

    Mr. Murbarger was born Sept. 11, 1908, in Clay County, the son of David and Bertha (Patridge) Murbarger. He married Vida Rosenburg Feb. 16, 1938, in Clay City.

    He was a retired school custodian from the Clay City Grade School. Previously he and Vida had managed the Flora Golf Course.

    He was a member of the Clay City Methodist Church.

    Survivors include his wife, Vida; four daughters, Shirley Ausbrook, Marilyn Helburn, Phyllis Koss, Carolyn Sunday; five brothers, Rolla Murbarger, Shelby Murbarger, Carroll Murbarger, Eath Murbarger, and Neal Murbarger; two sisters, Cecil Staser and Maxine Tibbs; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

    Services were held at Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home in Clay City with Rev. Norman Sloan presiding.

    Burial was in Clay City Cemetery.

    Vida Evelyn Murbarger, 94, of Yulee, Fla., and formerly of Clay City, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, in Yulee, Fla.

    Vida was born July 3, 1919, in Wayne County, the daughter of Bert and Gertrude (Cummins) Rosenberg. She married Leo Murbarger on February 16, 1938, in Clay City. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1987.

    Vida was a lifelong member of Clay City United Methodist Church. She was also a part of United Methodist Women, Walk to Emmaus, The Rebeccas, and Flora Golf and Country Club.

    She loved God, her family, and friends. She loved traveling, golfing, music, playing cards, fishing, cooking, and reading, especially the Bible.

    She is survived by daughter, Marilyn (Steve) Helburn; daughter, Phyllis (Jim) Koss; daughter, Carolyn (Larry) Sunday; grandchildren, Trudy and David Hunley, Brad and Sarah Ausbrook, Duane Ausbrook, Stephanie Helburn, James Helburn, Tory and Scott Wilson, Jami and Ray Melton, Joey Sunday, and J.R. and Melanie Sunday; brother-in-law, Neil Murbarger; sister-in-laws, Retha Murbarger and Marjorie Murbarger; 19 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Shirley Ausbrook, son-in-law, Red Ausbrook, brothers, George and Walter Rosenberg, sister, Dorothy Wilson, six brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

    Funeral services were held at Clay City Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Canada officiating.

    Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home was in charge.

    Memorials may be made to Village of Clay City, specified for cemetery upkeep, or Clay City United Methodist church.
