    Karyl Ann Hiser Eikleberry was born June 8, 1950, in Clay County, daughter of William R. and Lois Praxel Hiser. She married Larry D. Eikleberry December 28,1971, in Louisville, IL.
    Surviving are her mother; son, Larry Robert (Jolien) Eikleberry, grandchildren, Krista Eikleberry and sister, Sharon Welty.
    She was preceded in death by her father and her husband on November 1, 2010.

    William R. "Boone" Hiser, 81, of Olney, IL, formerly of Clay City, died November 4, 2004 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    Mr. Hiser was born July 16, 1923 in Clay County, the son of William and Lila Hunley Hiser. he married Lois Praxel September 14, 1945.

    He worked for the Ill. Dept. of Corrections and formerly the Clay County Sheriff's Dept., and was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 3rd Infantry.

    Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Welty and Karyl Eikleberry; one sister, Patsy Cordell; two grandchildren; and step-grandchildren and nephews.

    Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother and a sister.

    Private family graveside services were held at the Clay City Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Olney Veterans Organizations.

    Summers-Kistler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on 23 February 1943. Trained as an Amphibian Transportation Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). Departed the Continental U.S. on 23 November 1944 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Saw combat through Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 304th Infantry Regiment, 76th Infantry Division. Awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, The American Campaign Medal, The European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars, the WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Honorable discharge as a Corporal on 8 December 1945.

    Lois worked at a nursing home during her working years and helped her husband during his tenure as Clay County Sheriff. She was of the Lutheran Faith and enjoyed being with her family and she especially loved doting over the grandchildren.

    A graveside service for Lois Hiser will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Clay City Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

His physical heart, thouggh weak for the last few months of his life, that loving heart for his family and friends grew larger and stronger. "Arch", Daddy, Grand-Daddy, and a good friend, is gone.
