ELKHORN, Wis. - Edna Marie Oddy, 93, of Elkhorn, Wis., and formerly of Murrayville, died Monday, Aug. 6, 1990, at Lakeland Nursing Home in Elkhorn.

Thomas Mason came to the United States sometime around 1866 or 1868. He first showed on the U.S. Census in 1870, living with the John Cook family in Bethel, Morgan County, Illinois.

George was christened in the Episcopal church of England, but did not unite with any church organization on removing to America.

Uncle George, as he was affectionately known, has made his home with his son, Thomas, during the past twenty-one years. For eighteen years he has been blind and during the past three years or more has been in poor health. He died at 6 o'clock Sunday morning, March 21, being 90 years, 2 months, 27 days old.

George married Vasey, Jane in 1844. Jane was born in UNKNOWN in England; died on 20 Sep 1877; was buried in Diamond Grove Cemetery, Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Died-on the evening of the 20th inst., after a painful illness, Mrs. George Mason. Strange to say, her husband was visiting his old home in England, when it struck him suddenly that all was not well at home. And before he had completed his tour of friend seeing, he bade a hasty adieu, and only reached home just in time to be present ere the angel of death took the wife of his bosom beyond the portals of the world beyond the Jordan. Her remains were consigned to their last resting place in Diamond Grove cemetery, on the 22 inst.
