    NOTES FROM STEPHEN GREGORY "STEVE" LUKE (1947-2002):
    Benjamin served during the French and Indian War, Pontiac rebellion, and the Regulator revolt(for above see Henry H Sharp). In 1775 he enlisted into the Patroit Army 1st N.C. Regiment to fight the Loyalists, many of whom were his friends and relatives. He fought at Moore's Creek Feb 1776, Charleston June 1776, raided Florida in 1776, which had not joined the Patriot cause, wintered with George Washington at Valley Forge, fought at Monmouth June 1778 and Briar Creek April 1779, was chased out of N.C. later that year, and in 1780 was beseiged in Charlseton for 37 days. Taken prisoner there he was held in a British Prison Ship for 3 years, which were rotting, rat infested, stench filled gloomy hulks.
