    Entered active service as a draftee on June 7, 1945 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Selected for the transportation corps, completed basic training, and eventually qualified in the military occupational specialty of administrative noncommissioned officer. Served stateside with the 9206th Transportation Service Unit, Transportation Corps, Military Police Detachment. Honorably discharged as a Corporal on November 17, 1946 at the Separation Center, Camp Stoneman, California. Earned The American Campaign Medal and The WWII Victory Medal.

    Mrs. Paul Crackel Dies After Two Weeks’ Illness

    Mrs. Paul Bernard Crackel, until three years ago a resident of Alton, died Friday at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. She had been ill for two weeks.

    Three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Crackel moved from Alton to Madison where Crackel, a fireman for the Illinois Terminal Railroad Co., had been transferred by his company.

    Besides her husband, Mrs. Crackel is survived by three sons, . . . . She also leaves her father, C.J. Meyer of Flora, and three brothers.

    Mrs. Crackel was a cousin of Mrs. Durland Drake of 2126 Seminary street and Mr. and Mrs. Drake left today for Flora where funeral services for Mrs. Crackel will be held Sunday afternoon at the First Christian Church.

    The subject of our sketch was born In Ohio in 1861. For a number of years he haa been connected with the drug trade of Flora, first as pharmacist in other stores, and later as proprietor of the City Drug Store.

    He is a graduated pharmacist, as well as having had years of experience, and is conscientious and careful in filling prescriptions. In addition to his complete stock of drugs, paints, oils, etc., he has added a large line of druggist sundries, books, candies, holiday goods, staghorn novelties, dolls, etc.

    He is a director in the Building & Loan Association, and takes a lively interest in the moral and material growth of the city.

    Obituary from Flora Record Journal:

    On Wednesday morning, January 12, 1916, the community was saddened to learn of the sudden death of one of its highly honored and respected citizens, in the person of Aunt Mary Kinnaman, as she was familiarly called by her large circle of friends.

    Mary Ann Luse, daughter of Daniel and Sarah Luse was born February 15, 1841, in Gurnsey Co., Ohio and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. J. Meyer, January 12, 1916 at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 25 days. She was the last surviving member of a family of ten children.

    She came to Clay County with her parents in 1864. She was united in marriage to Henry Kinnaman in November 1865, and for thirty-seven years they walked together, "keeping the ordinances of the Lord, blameless." To this union three children were born. They were: Sophia May Meyer, of Flora; Charles Henry of Joliet, Il.; and Elmer Paul of Flora. She also leaves seven grandchildren to whom she was much attached. She also was a mother to three of Mr. Kinnaman's children by a former marriage. The son, Alonzo Clay Kinnaman of St. Louis, was also present at the funeral.

    The funeral services were held at the Christian Church. The body was carried to its last resting place in the city cemetery by the following officers of the church: W. E. Wood, C. E. Wolfe, P. A. Meyer, E. W. Bryan, F. G. Meyer, and B. F. Wineland.
