    Notes:

    Ray Harbin, 77, of Clay City, IL died April 12, 2005, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    Mr. Harbin was born November 11, 1927, in Wheatland, IN, the son of Mason and Edna Rusk Harbin. He married Jeanne VanDyke September 3, 1997 in Clay City.

    He was an operating engineer for J. W. Rudy Co. in Clay City and a member of Local #840 in Terre Haute, IN.

    He was a Navy veteran, a member of Sailor Springs American Legion, and was an avid mushroom and coon hunter.

    Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick; a daughter, Cathy Stout; five sisters, Betty Garbers, Catherine Cockerel, Martha Pearce, Mary Rosborough; and four step-children; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

    Preceding him in death were his parents, twin children, Joyce Kay and Johnny Ray; infant son, Rodney Gay, and a brother, Johnny Harbin.

    Graveside services with military rites were held at the Clay City Cemetery.

    Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora was in charge.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service on December 1, 1945. Completed boot camp at Naval Training Station, San Diego, California. Assigned to and served aboard, in turn, the heavy cruiser USS Salt Lake City CA-25 and the battleship USS Iowa BB-61. Honorably discharged as a Machinist's Mate Third Class on October 15, 1947 at Naval Air Station, Alameda, California. Earned the WWII Victory Medal for service during the period of eligibility.
