    Brad Lee Young, age 47, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

    He was born December 1, 1974, in Flora, the son of Everett and Donna (Mitchell) Young. He was united in marriage to Penny Smith on January 5, 2005, in Louisville, and together they have shared 17 wedding anniversaries.

    Brad had worked at Quad Graphics and HELLA Electronics in the past. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, working on cars and bikes, and drawing. He was an outstanding father and husband.

    He is survived by his wife: Penny Young of Flora; children: Tonya Young of Edwardsville, Robert Young of Flora, and Maverick Foreman of Flora; father: Everett (Roberta) Young of Rinard; mother: Donna Young of Flora; 2 brothers: Tim Young of Flora, and Ted Young of Louisville; a sister: Donnita Young of Clay City; a stepbrother: David Casolari of Flora; and a stepsister: Cheri Casolari of Rinard.

    He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Christopher and Everett Jr.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses and will be accepted through the funeral home.

    Greg was a graduate of Clay City High School. He attended Lake Land College where he earned his associate degree in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed playing the guitar and riding motorcycles.

    He is survived by a daughter: Mandy Foreman of Xenia; a son: Kirby (Audrey) Foreman of Olney; 2 grandchildren: Maverick Foreman and Michel Foreman of Xenia; a brother: Bus (Geraldine) Foreman of Sailor Springs; 2 sisters: Mona Tokos of Malvern, Ohio, and Marla Raley of Noble.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Willard Brent “Maverick” Foreman; and a sister: Marjorie Holland.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on October 7, 1944 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Completed basic infantry training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Rifleman (MOS 745). Departed the continental U.S. on April 16, 1945 bounnd for the European Theater of Operations. Upon arrival, assigned to and served with Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd "Old Guard" Infantry Regiment (a non-divisional unit) which was attached to the 106th ‘Golden Lion' Infantry Division at war's end in Europe. Participated in the subsequent occupation of Germany and eventually became a squad leader (MOS 812). Earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). Honorably discharged as a Private First Class on June 4, 1946 at the separation center, Fort Sheridan.
