    Larry joined the Clay City Fire Department on January 3, 1984 and recently retired this past January after 30 years. It was during those years that he served as Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief. Larry completed his Firefighter 2 certification and from 1987-1994 had advanced training and was certified in open water diving. He worked for J.W. Rudy for 12 years and on May 19, 1995 began working as an EMT/Paramedic for Clay County Ambulance, becoming lead medic and supervisor. Larry also served as Clay County Deputy Coroner for Gary Bright and Wes Miller and was in on the organization and implementation of 911 in Clay County having served on the 911 Board. His grandkids were Larry's top priority and in keeping with his willingness to help others, he became an organ donor. In his free time, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley.

    Jim R. Moseley, 48, Clay City, died Sunday in Sacremento, Ca. of an apparent heart attack.

    Service arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Cardascio Funeral Home.

    He was born in Clay County Jan. 26, 1933 to George D. and Cleo (Abbott) Moseley. He married Virginia Lou Snell, and she survives.

    He was a member of the Clay City Christian Church and the Flora VFW.

    Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Moseley, Clay City; two daughters, Mrs. John (Deana) Devore, Clay City, and Mrs. Larry (Lisa) Carter, Noble; four sisters, Mrs. Garry (Georgia) Rosborough, River Dale, Ga., Mrs. Danny (Ruth) Thomann, Noble, Pauline (Pat) Hill, Flora, and Mrs. George (Dorothy Jean) Poole, Conneticut; and two grandchildren.

    Virginia enjoyed country music and NASCAR racing. She took pleasure in going on trips through a touring agency. Some of these trips included Branson, MO and Hawaii. She would take a yearly voyage over to Indiana for the Covered Bridge Festival. Virginia enjoyed time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    George Moseley, 83, Clay City, died 1:30 p.m. Thursday in his home.

    Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home in Clay City with Bro. Barry Sikes presiding. Visitation will be in the funeral home. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery.

    Mr. Mosely was born March 19, 1900, in Clay County, the son of Bennett and Maude (Travis)
    Moseley. He married Cleo Abbott July 9, 1932, in Fairfield and she survives.

    He was a retired laborer with Union Oil Co.; and a member of the Clay City Christian Church.

    Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Poole, Pueblo, Colo.; Pauline Harbin, Flora; Mrs. Ruth Ann Thomann, Noble; and Mrs. Georgia Rosborough, River Dale, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jim; a great-grandchild; a sister; and two brothers.

    Notes:

    Magdlena Cinderella "Maggie" Snell, 93, of Clay City, died at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Flora Gardens.

    Mrs. Snell was born December 11, 1917, in Sailor Springs, the daughter of John and Effie (Montoney) Smith. She married Lindell Snell in 1933 in Olney. He preceded her in death in 1982.

    She was a retired cook at Little Diner and Holland Truck Stop in Flora. She was a member of Clay City Christian Church.

    Mrs. Snell is survived by her son, Billie Snell, of Carmi; daughter, Virginia Moseley, of Clay City; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Effie Smith; husband, Lindell Snell; son, Bobbie Dean; four sisters; four brothers; and one great-grandchild.

    Funeral services were held at the Summers Kistler Funeral Home with Minister Darrel Brandon officiating.

    Burial was in Clay City Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to Clay City Christian Church.
