    Robert was a member of the Elm Street Christian Church and the Olney Masonic Lodge. He really enjoyed the Olney Tigers Boys Basketball and Baseball teams, attending every game he was able to. Robert was a sports fan and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Green Bay Packers. He took pleasure in coaching little league baseball and girls softball, especially when his daughters were players on the team. He was also an avid baseball card collector.

    Robert volunteered his time with the Good Samaritan of Olney as well as with church activities at Elm Street Christian Church. Robert was a people person and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He would often be found engaged in conversation with someone who he had run into while out in the community.

    Clay City, Ill. — Lowell "Bill" Hunley, 86, of Clay City, died at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    Mr. Hunley was born on April 10, 1924, in Clay City, the son of James and Edna (Patridge) Hunley.

    He married Wilma Josephine Gray on June 4, 1948, in Lawrence County. She survives.

    He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Community Southern Baptist Church in Clay City and a member of Flora Masonic Lodge.

    Mr. Hunley is survived by his wife, Jo Hunley; son, Robert Gray; four grandchildren, Tracy Pearson, Lori Clark, Kelly Hildebrand, and Michael Peterson; six great-grandchildren, Andy Hildebrand, Kyle Pearson, Lindsay Pearson, Reed Clark, Avery Gardner and Grant Gardner; brother, Robert Hunley; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna Hunley; daughter, Rebecca; daughter, Patricia Ann; brother, Buck Hunley; brother, John Thomas Hunley; brother, Jack Hunley; sister, Evelyn Welch; and sister, Thelma Burkett.

    Memorials can be made to the Community Southern Baptist Church Building Fund.

    Funeral services were held at Community Southern Baptist Church in Clay City with Brother Dustin Belcher and Brother Charlie Allen presiding.

    Full military rites were conducted by the Clay City veterans.

    A Masonic Service was held at the funeral home.

    Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City was in charge of arrangements.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on March 4th, 1943 at Chicago, Illinois. Selected for the Air Corps, completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Military Policeman (677). Departed the Continental U.S. oon January 2, 1944 bound for Honolulu, Hawaii territory. Assigned to and served with the 1244th Military Police Company (Aviation). Earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Corporal on November 21 at the Army Air Forces Separation Center, Santa Anna, California.

    Jo crocheted blankets, afghans, flags and more for her family. She enjoyed visiting the Senior Citizens Center and playing Bingo with her friends. She religiously read the Bible. Jo loved spending time with her family and friends. Jo was a member of the Women's Auxiliary Legion at Clay City.
