    Douglas E. Weiler, age 62, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

    Doug was born October 25, 1953, in Olney, the son of William E. “Bill” and Berneta (Lutz) Weiler. He married Ruth Ann Jones on March 1, 1980, in Clay City.

    Doug worked at NAL as a technician for over 28 years. Prior to that he drove a truck and worked at Ames Handle Factory.

    He enjoyed spending time outdoors, all types of hunting, and pursuing his photography passion, was owner of Country Images Photography. Doug was a trained weather spotter and would closely follow the weather. In the past, he liked to golf, ride motorcycles, and formerly was a Ham Radio Operator. He also served as a first responder and member of the Clay City Fire Department for 15 years. Doug was a member of National Wildlife Turkey Federation (NWTF) and Whitetails Unlimited. He loved and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

    Doug is survived by his wife: Ruth Ann Weiler; three children: Angela (Dustin) Noden, Amanda (David) Wilson, and Layton Weiler; his mother: Berneta Weiler; three grandchildren: Elliott Noden, Noelle Wilson, and Norah Wilson; three brothers: Alan (Doris) Weiler, Chris Weiler, and Mark (Joyce) Weiler; along with aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his father: William E. “Bill” Weiler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Paul and Sarah Jones; and niece: Andrea Weiler.

    The funeral service for Doug Weiler will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.

    Interment will follow in the Clay City Cemetery.

    Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

    In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter (CCARS) or Fur A Good Paws.

    Berneta Emma (Lutz) Weiler, age 90, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, December 7, 2018, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    She was born March 25, 1928, in rural Clay County, the daughter of Elza and Grace (Brown) Lutz. She was united in marriage to William "Bill" E. Weiler on December 7, 1946, and they shared 64 years of marriage prior to his death September 28, 2011.

    Berneta was employed in the Clay City Grade School cafeteria for over 20 years. She was a member of Clay City United Methodist Church. A devoted wife, mother, and adoring grandmother, she lovingly put her family first and will always be remembered for her delicious home cooked meals and the enjoyment and pride she took in caring for her garden and flower beds.

    Berneta is survived by three sons: Alan (Doris) Weiler of Maiden, NC, Chris Weiler of Clay City, and Mark (Joyce) Weiler of Clay City; daughter-in-law: Ruth Ann Weiler of Clay City; grandchildren: Shari Weiler (Kevin) Ezell, Chad (Jessie) Weiler, Angela (Dusty) Noden, Amanda (Dave) Wilson, Layton Weiler, Jesteen (Jonathon) Billingsley, Joe (Rachel) Bruner, and Sarah Weiler; great-grandchildren: Kathryn, Alexandra, Kira, Chase, Elliott, Noelle, Norah, Zaiden, Azaira, Reagan, Ava, Rylan, Kamden, Knox, and Lilian; two sisters: Dorothea (the late Charles) Pringle of Clay City, and Lorene (Frank) Mayden of Godfrey; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son: Doug Weiler; a granddaughter: Andrea Weiler; and three sisters: Wilma (Alfred) Lybarger, Ninetta (Gerald) Wilson, and Evelyn Lutz.

    A funeral ceremony will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A private burial will take place at Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Monday evening and 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

    Memorial donations are suggested to Gift of Hope.

    Sarah L. Jones, age 79, of Flora, IL died at 8:20 AM on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN.

    She was born December 21, 1932 in Clay County, IL to Menford and Fern (Rumley) West. She married Paul W. Jones on December 21, 1955 in Noble, IL. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2003.

    Sarah attended Western Union School, was a waitress at several local restaurants, served as Campground Host at Forbes State Park, helped with decorating for the F.A.F. Christmas Tree Walk, and was a lifelong member and former secretary of the Flora VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, camping, family get-togethers, traveling in the U.S. and abroad with her sister and sister-in-law, trapshooting at the gun club, and doing crafts, quilting and crocheting.

    She is survived by two daughters: Ruth Ann Weiler and Paula Jean Rahn; six grandchildren: Angie Noden, Amanda Wilson, Layton Weiler, J.D. Rahn, Brandy Little, Pamela Scott; five great-grandchildren: Elliot Noden, Noelle Wilson, Ronni Little, Sarah Little, David Little; two brothers: David West, James "Red Top" West; two sisters: Ada Baker, Norma Quandt; along with several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers (Roy, Harvey, Ronnie and Robert West), and two sisters (Mary Schnell and Betty Pearl).

    A memorial service for Sarah Jones was held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Dr. Don Bunnell officiating.

    Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.

    The family requests that memorial donations in Sarah's memory be made to Golden Circle Nutrition or to the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Weiler was born August 23, 1903, the daughter of John H. and Anna Mary Nagel Holman.

    She was a retired cook for the Clay City School District. She was a member of the Clay City United Methodist Church and the Flora Eastern Star.

    Surviving are two sons, Bill and Fred Weiler; one daughter, Anna Mary Carrington; one sister, Rosa Holman; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, and one daughter.

    Services were held at Hosselton Bookhout and Engelmeier Funeral Home in Clay City.

    Burial was in the Clay City Cemetery.

    Elza Lutz, 89, Noble, died at 5 a.m. Monday, June 24, in the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home in Clay City with Rev. Jim Nettleton presiding. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery with full military rites at graveside. Memorials can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

    Mr. Lutz was born July 3, 1895, in Richland County, the son of John and Emma (Zerkle) Lutz. He married Grace Brown in 1917, and she died in 1932. He then married Grace Smith in 1937, and she preceded him in death in 1980.

    He was a farmer; a member of the Noble United Methodist Church; a World War I veteran; a charter member of the Noble American Legion; a member of the WW I Barracks of Richland County; and the 40 & 8 of Richland County.

    Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Dorothea Pringle, and Mrs. Willima (Berneta) Weiler, both of Clay City; Mrs. Alfred (Wilma) Luybarger, Noble; Mrs. Frank (Lorene) Mayden, Belleville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Dean Dugan, Texas; a step-son, Joe Smith, Olney; a sister, Mrs. Nora Martin, Bakersfield, Ca.; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two daughters, two sisters and two brothers.
