    Notes:

    Monte served in the United States Navy. He worked in the oil fields for many years. Later in life Monte was a self-employed carpenter. In his spare time he was a licensed commercial fisherman. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, but his true passion was hoop net fishing in the Little Wabash River. Monte took great care in hand-making all of his own nets and was one of the few people around with this skill.

    Harold was born April 3, 1929 to Jerry and Mary E (Pettyjohn) in Clay City Il. He married Mary Jane Camp on July 29 1950 and she survives.

    Harold worked in the oilfield tank service before working at AMF in Olney. He then became the caretaker of Clay City Cemetery. He took great pride in the cemetery, treating it like his own lawn at home. He enjoyed lawn work, working in his garden, and flying model airplanes.

    He was a US Army veteran serving first in Alaska and then stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clay City.

    Harold is survived by his Wife of 63 years, Mary Jane Bricker of Clay City

    Notes:

    Mary Jane Bricker, 88, of Clay City, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Flora Health Care Center.

    Mary Jane was born on November 27, 1930 in Mt. Erie, IL, the daughter of Charles and Nora (Sandlin) Camp. She married Harold G. Bricker on July 29, 1950 in Louisiana, MO. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2014.

    Mary Jane took great pride in taking care of her family and her home. She also enjoyed flower gardening and cooking. In her earlier days Mary Jane worked in the housekeeping department of the previous Clay County Hospital and retired as janitor at the Clay City Banking Company.

    Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Glenda Cowger of Wheeler, IL; former daughter-in-law, Ginger Countryman of Springfield, IL; granddaughters, Julie (Butch) Atwood of Mt. Erie, Laura (Zeb Oestreich) Bricker of Clay City, and Tia Cowger of Wheeler, IL; step-granddaughters, Stephanie and April Mahoney of Springfield, IL; great grandchildren, Lane and Luke Atwood, Ashten Harrison, and Elisabeth and Isabella Oestreich ; and several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Kenneth Bricker and Monte Bricker, son-in-law, Stephen Cowger, brothers, Joseph, Clifford, Cecil, Wallace Lee, sisters, Marjorie and Vivian.

    Memorials can be made to Activity Fund at Flora Rehabilitation and Heath Care Center.

    A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Clay City Cemetery.

    Cremation Rites were accorded.

    Jerry Elias Bricker was born December 25, 1881, in Wayne County, IL, the son of Conrode & Lucinda Bricker. He departed this life on June 4, 1964 at the age of 82 years, 5 months, & 9 months.

    He was united in marriage on Jan. 17, 1916 to Mary E. Pettyjohn. To this union six children were born: two sons, Kenneth & Ivan, preceded him in death,, the former while serving his country in World War II.

    He is survived by his wife & four children: Mrs. Herman (Evelyn) Sullens, Roy, Mrs. Howard (Helen) Smith, & Harold Bricker.

    He spent most of his life in and around Clay County. He was a loving companion and father.

    Mary E. Bricker, 84, Clay City, was found dead in her home at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

    She was born in January 8, 1897 in Clay County, IL, daughter of Joseph & Alice Wolbourn Pettyjohn. She married Jerry E. Bricker in Clay City in 1917 & he preceded her in death June 4, 1964.

    Survivors include two sons, Roy & Harold; a daughter Evelyn Sullens; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, a daughter, five brothers, three sisters, two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

    The 1920 census lists Mary as the daughter of Jerry. She was his wife, not his daughter.

    Survivors include three sons, Clifford, Citrus Heights, Ca.; Wallace, Fishland, Ky.; Cecil, Boise, Ida.; three sisters, Vivian Walker, Boise, Mary Jane Bricker, Clay City, and Marjorie Taylor, Edwardsville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
