Howard W. Phillips, 76, of Sailor Springs, was dead on arrival at the Clay County Hospital at Flora at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A native of Clay County, Mr. Phillips had operated a garage at Sailor Springs for many years and was active in the Democratic party affairs of Clay County, had served as Supervisor of Pixley Township, and as a member of the Clay County Welfare Services Committee. He was a veteran of World War I and was a fifty year member of the Clay City Masonic lodge.
He and his wife, the former Anna Banker, observed their Golden Wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. He is survived by his wife, Anna, a daughter, Mrs. George (Bernette) Weidner of Louisville, two brothers, Frank of Sailor Springs and Rolla of Clay City, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held in the Neal Funeral Home at Louisville with Rev. A. W. Phillips and Rev. H. A. Dasch officiating. Burial will be in Dillman cemetery. Sailor Springs.
