    Notes:

Nathan’s “make it happen” spirit arose early from his family’s strong roots in faith, his personal trust in the Scriptures, and an instinctive determination to lead by example. He was a person of both vision and action who maintained straightforward convictions. A graduate of Lawrenceville High School and St. Louis Christian College, Nathan pursued a bi-vocational path in life, following a compelling call to bring the Word to others as an evangelist and as a self-employed mechanic of heavy machinery. He was affiliated with a number of churches including his current position as minister at Patoka Christian Church, and prior churches including Buckeye Christian Church, Brown Christian Church, and Dieterich Christian Church. He, along with his family, served as a missionary in Panama for a year, and on brief mission trips to Haiti and Mexico. His adventuresome spirit led him to take an interest in aviation, and he earned his pilot’s license and operated his own vintage aircraft. He also found enjoyment in motorcycles and travel. Nathan’s children, siblings, and church family will treasure the memories of a man who loved generously and will be remembered as a constant and selfless servant of the Lord.

Nathan married Grimmett, Laura Kathleen on 2 Jun 1984 in Greenville,. Laura (daughter of Grimmett, Coy C. and ?, J.K.K.) was born on 4 Nov 1963 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois; died on 16 Sep 2012 in St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Effingham County, Illinois; was buried in Scott Cemetery, Winterrowd, Effingham County, Illinois. Notes:

Laura loved life and went where she was needed most. Family and home were truly close to her heart, and as an exceptionally supportive wife and mother she encouraged, nurtured, and homeschooled. She was a good cook, enjoyed activities such as taking photos and reading, and loved to sing.

A 1982 graduate of Northwestern High School in Palmyra, Laura was a former Macoupin County Fair Queen. She earned a Dental Hygiene Associate degree and a Bachelor of Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. At one point, she attended five different colleges at once in order to earn the credits necessary to accelerate her studies and graduate early.

She had the selfless heart of a servant, was a great listener, and radiated warmth and hospitality while at home and at work. Through her professional career as a dental hygienist in several southern Illinois clinics as well as the Vandalia state prison, her personality could make people from all walks of life feel at ease. As a member of Dieterich Christian Church she was involved in teaching Sunday school and Bible school. Prior to this, she was part of the Brown Christian Church family in Kinmundy. She and Nathan assisted with a mission in Panama in 2003, where she was instrumental in opening a dental clinic which provided services and taught basic oral hygiene. Laura held a deep love for Jesus and openly shared her faith with others, including many of the people who sat for just a while in her dental chair.
