    • Funeral: Elm Street Christian Church, Olney, Richland County, Illinois

    Notes:

Ron, along with his wife, were a couple willing to share their faith in Jesus with others, offering prayer and comfort during the many years they hosted Bible studies in their home. He was a family man and loved having his kids and grandkids around. Fishing with his grandkids was one of his favorite pastimes and it made for some hilarious stories over the years. He enjoyed woodworking, car shows, a good nap and just tinkering around on any number of projects. Dad was dedicated to our mom, especially during the years her health was in decline. And he was with her daily during long hospital stays. He was always on a first name basis with the hospital staff and no matter what facility she was in, he always seemed to know where the coffee machine was located. He was always willing to help out family or friends and never knew a stranger. Even a trip to Walmart could take a while as he considered it a social activity. His sudden and unexpected passing coming only a month after losing Mom has left a huge hole in our hearts and the pain runs deep. But we know they will be watching and smiling over us from the balcony of Heaven as we carry on the traditions and values they instilled in us.

Ronald married King, Sherlyn A. on 14 Nov 1962 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois. Sherlyn (daughter of King, Robert Lee and Crosby, Mary Byers) was born on 24 May 1944 in Sacremento, Sacramento County, California; died on 20 Nov 2018 in Carle Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, Richland County, Illinois; was buried in Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Illinois. 2. 3.  King, Sherlyn A. was born on 24 May 1944 in Sacremento, Sacramento County, California (daughter of King, Robert Lee and Crosby, Mary Byers); died on 20 Nov 2018 in Carle Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, Richland County, Illinois; was buried in Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Illinois.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Reference Number: KING.S003
    • _FGRAVE: 194935891
    • Funeral: 28 Nov 2018, Elm Street Christian Church, Olney, Richland County, Illinois

    Notes:

Sherlyn loved her family and was happiest when her children and grandchildren were all together to celebrate birthdays and holidays. Her true love language was hospitality. She loved cooking and feeding people. If you were in her home you were offered something to eat or drink. It didn't matter if you were a friend, family member or a delivery driver she made sure no one left her house hungry.

She was an avid crocheter who made special baby blankets for each of her grandchildren and many others outside of the family. These items will be cherished even more deeply now. During her many hospital stays she could be found sitting with her needles and yarn. Even when plagued by physical limitations and pain she still wanted her yarn 'just in case' she felt up to a few stitches.

Christmas will be bittersweet this year, not only because she isn't here but also because it was her favorite holiday. She loved and cherished her decorations and referred to them as her prize possessions, second only to her love for Jesus and family. If you were blessed to be in her home during the holiday season you know there wasn't a corner that wasn't decorated. During her last days she expressed more than once to her family that she did not want Christmas 'skipped'. We were to continue to gather together and celebrate the birth of the Savior. Telling her husband and children to 'find the joy'.

Grief is a painful process and tears flow freely right now, but sharing memories of the little things that were unique to her has been a soothing balm. We are comforted knowing she is no longer in pain and is watching over as we begin the journey together to finding the joy once again.
