    L.L. (Slim) Converse, 77, of Albion, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan, 7, 1993, in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

    Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Little Prairie Christian Church in Albion with Brothers Larry Music and Mark Richison presiding. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion. Burial will be in West Village Cemetery.

    Memorials can be made to the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp in Flora or the Illiana Christian Service Camp in Washington, Ind.

    Rev. Converse was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Wichita, Kan., the son of Lorin John and Mary Irene (Updike) Converse. He married Eva Horde June 6, 1940, in Union, Mo. and she survives.

    Prior to World War II, Converse was a rig builder for oil field construction. During World War II he was in the European Theatre Operation with the First Armored Division for two years. He was awarded four Bronze Stars and four battle stars, He was discharged as a captain. He was a member of the First Armored Division Association.

    After the war he attended Emporia Teachers College for two years.

    He was a minister, having served at churches in Oklahoma, New Harmony, Ind., Oak Wood, Berryville, Antioch, Maud, Wynoose, Dale Oakland City, and Parkview Christian Church in Mt. Carmel.

    He retired 10 years ago and worked with oil field supply equipment and worked with his wife in the beauty supply business and Bill Phebus of Geuss Beauty Supply.

    He is a member of Little Prairie Christian Church.

    Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Jamie) Dill, Albion; and two grandsons.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a granddaughter.
