    Paul proudly served in the Army during World War II. During his service he earned several decorations and medals including the WWII Victory Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and 2 Overseas Service Bars. He worked as a dairy salesman for Flora Pure Milk Co. before becoming an officer for the Flora Police Department where he later worked as a dispatcher. He was of the Christian faith and avidly enjoyed studying his bible and also took pride in his annual gardening.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on July 21, 1944 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Rifleman (745). Departed the Continental U.S. on January 5, 1945 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to Company I, 275th Infantry Regiment, 70th 'Trailblazers' Infantry Division. Fought with them through Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Earned The Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Private First Class on January 25, 1946 at Camp Grant, Illinois.
