Completed basic training, qualified in the military occupational specialty of Field Lineman (641), and departed the Continental U.S. on August 6, 1945 bound for The Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. Assigned to Battery A, 123rd Field Artillery Battalion, 33rd Infantry Illinois Division, and landed on Honshu Island, Japan on September 25, 1945 as part of the Army of Occupation. Earned The Good Conduct Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, The WWII Victory Medal and The Army of Occupation (Japan) Medal. Honorably discharged as a Technician 5th Grade on December 1, 1946 at the Separation Center, Camp Beale, California.
