She was united in marriage to William E. Evans, who passed away May 1, 1892. Ten children were born to this union, seven of whom still are living; Mrs. Amanda Stedman of Burbank, California, Elmer Evans of Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Mollie Collier, of Cornland, Illinois, Mrs. Jessie Hines of Mason, Illinois, Miss Maude Evans of Chicago, Illinois, William J. of Watson, Illinois, and Tony W. of Mason, Illinois, and one step-daughter, Mrs. Louise Mikeworth, living with Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Mikeworth of Effingham.

The following children have preceded her in death: Anna, Charles, and Sadie, also one brother and three sisters, Ahart Simmerman, Mrs. Jane Merry, Mrs. Susan Boone and Amanda Simmerman, and two step-children, Sylvanus and John Henry Evans.

She leaves 43 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Five grandsons and eleven great-grandsons and one granddaughter are in service and one great-grandson has paid the Supreme Sacrifice. She has been a resident of Effingham County most of her life, except a few years spent in Clay County. She has spent the last eight years with her children near Mason and Watson, having spent most of the last 18 months with her daughter, Mrs. Jessie Hines, near Mason.

She united with the Congregational Christian Church at Bethsaida many years ago, and has always been a faithful member, attending services as long as her health would permit. She has been blest with a good memory all these years and her good life of deeds and service will live on as a monument of her life.

Her great desire was to live to see the world at peace again, but the Master called and she went Home to enjoy the heavenly peace.

Funeral services were held at Bethsaida Church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Minister A.O. Jacobs, of Newton, assisted by Minister Wright Spurlin, of Edegewood. Burial was in Bethsaida Cemetery nearby.
