    Frederick A. Zuber. 80, of Newton, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2001, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today with rosary at 7 p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton with Father Joseph Molloy celebrating mass.

    Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie with full military rites by Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932.

    Mr. Zuber was born on September 3, 1920, in Jasper County, the son of John and Caroline (Ochs) Zuber. He married Leatha Burgener on November 25, 1947, in Ste. Marie. She survives.

    He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton. He was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ste. Marie. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932.

    Mr. Zuber is survived by his wife of 53 years, Leatha Zuber, of Newton; four sons, Paul Zuber and his wife, Linda, of Newton, Dave Zuber and his wife, Terri, of Newton, James Zuber and his wife, Carol, of Newton, and John Zuber and his wife, Debbie, of Newton; six daughters, Catherine Sullens and her husband, Dave, of Kilgore, Texas, Ginny Jones and her husband, Richard, of Ore City, Texas, Rose Compton and her husband, Gerry, of Shelbyville, Joanne Will and her husband, Alen, of Neoga, Ruth Lindley, of Newton, and Mary Pool and her husband, Bruce, of Berryville; a brother, Frank J. Zuber, of Newton; two sisters, Marie Jones, of Rockford, and Christine Ginder, of Olney; and 35 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

    Memorials may be made to St Mary's Cemetery.
