    Notes:

Amazing father, Opa and friend to all.

Captain James L. Dye, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 25th, 2023.
He was born to the late Cody & Fannie Dye, June 19th, 1940, in Pike County Kentucky. Jim was the 6th of 12 children and the first to graduate from high school. He married the late Brigitte Dye on December 23rd, 1960.

Jim joined the Army May 27th, 1958 and had a 24 year career, where he was highly decorated. In the Army he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart just to name a couple of his military accomplishments. He even marched with the late Martin Luther King, Jr in Atlanta where he was a Army Recruiter at the time. Then spent another 15 years with civil service and the last protocol Officer at Fitz Simmons. Which is now UC Health and Anschutz Medial Campus.

His one true Love was his wife, Brigitte. They were married for 56 years. During that time, they lived all over the world in many countries and states. In 1960 they were stationed in Landstuhl Germany where they had their first son James L. Dye Jr. or Jimmy as we called him. They were stationed in New Delhi, India, Atlanta, Georgia, and Augsburg, Germany where they had their middle child, Michael K. Dye. He completed his last tour in Europe in Frankfort Germany where they had their youngest son, Siegfried Erich Dye. Then in 1974 he was transferred to Fitzsimmons Army Base in Colorado; where he spent his last years in the Army before he retired in 1981.

Jim’s true passions were his family and friends. He loved making people laugh, helping others and telling stories (some true and some made up). Jim was quick witted and always ready with a joke or a story. Overall, there was little he wouldn’t do to help someone. He spent many years on the board of Fitzsimmons Credit Union to do just that; help others. He believed in God and the hereafter and fought to live as an example to others that all things are possible. He will be missed and remembered by those he touched but especially by his family and friends that he leaves behind. God claimed another Great One and has gained a special addition to his Kingdom.

The Memorial Service will be held at Newcomer Funeral home from 10am to 12pm on the 24th of August. Followed by burial of Captain James L Dye & Brigitte Dye at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2pm. For those that are interested we will be doing a wake to celebrate the Lives of Jim, Brigitte and Jimmy Dye at the Englewood Grand, 3435 S Broadway, Englewood, CO 80113

Jim's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time. Click here to view the service

In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Denver Rescue Mission and Project Angle Heart.
