FLORA Betty E. Clapper, 83, of Flora, formerly of Effingham, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
There will be no services. Frank & Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Clay County Cancer Support Group.
Ms. Clapper was born Oct. 19, 1927, in Arlington Heights, the daughter of John & Ellen (Lackner) Albrecht. She married Robert L. Clapper on June 28, 1947, in Arlington Heights. He preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 2004.
Betty was a homemaker and an avid bowler and Betty Boop collector. She was a member of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by her children, Rose Hetzer of Freedonia, Ky., Peggy O'Dell and husband, Les, of Flora, Lucille Inyart and husband, John, of Charleston and Paul Clapper of Newbern, Tenn.; one sister, Dorothy Fischer and husband, Mal, of Janesville, Wis.; good friends, Alice Fearday of Neoga and Jean Koebele of Effingham; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Alice; and sister, Charlotte Orton.
