    1929 - 2007

    Dorine Pearcy, 77, of Zion and formerly of Westfield, Illinois, died on Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion, Illinois. Dorine was born November 25, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri. She had lived in Johnsonville, Illinois and Westfield, Illinois before moving to Zion 10 years ago. She was a member of Westfield Baptist Church. Dorine worked approximately 20 years for Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County, Illinois. Later she worked in private homes in Lake Forest, Illinois as a caregiver. Survivors include two sons Austin (JoEllen) Kelley of Zion and Terry (Jill) Kelley of Greenup, Illinois; twelve grandchildren Heather Cummins, Heidi (Christopher) Daniels, Terri Kelley, Janie Wilkin, Barbara Kelley, Chad Pearcy, Stacie (Tom) Winings, Ralph Pearcy II, Tonya (Shane) Oakley, Stephine Chapman, Ryan Keller and Aaron Keller; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister Vivian (Wayne) Simpson of Donavan, Missouri; one niece Cheryl (Clyde) Cokely of Gibson City, Illinois; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Grover; one son Ralph Pearcy; her daughter-in-law Julia Spaulding; one nephew Jason Hipes; one sister Levera Hipes; and her parents Ralph and Goldie Bricker. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A visitation will also be held at Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, 720 Monroe Avenue, Charleston, Illinois on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13th, at 10:00 a.m. at Harper Swickard Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Charleston, Illinois. Memorial donations to STAR Hospice have been suggested.

    Ralph attended school until the 3d grade, quitting to help support his family. He used to run "bootleg" whiskey during prohibition. Most of his jobs were driving trucks and working in the oil fields. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges in Flora, Clay County, Illinois.

    In 1940, Ralph family are living at 2718 North 11th Street, St. Louis, Missouri (1940 census). Ralph is working is a machine operator at a mattress factory.

    In 1942, Ralph and Goldie are living at H32 West Duncan, Columbus, Ohio (1942 City Directory , Columbus, Ohio, page 173). Ralph is working for the National Mattress Company.

    After a lengthy illness, Ralph died of cancer at 6 a.m. on 23 February 1987 in his home in Clay City, Illinois

    Mrs. Morley (Goldie M.) Galarneau, 61, of Flora, IL, died at the Clay County Hospital.

    She was born March 30, 1909 in Missouri, the daughter of Theodore and Theodoshia Kingan Hudson.

    Survivors include three daughters, Vivian Simpson, Dorine Pearcy, and Levera Hites; ten grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Halley; and a brother Archie Hudson.

    Funeral services were at DeSelms Funeral Home with burial in the Clay City Cemetery.
