    Entered active service as a draftee on March 22, 1945 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Selected for the Ordnance Corps, completed basic training and qualified in the Military Occupational Specialty of Fuel Induction Mechanic (926). Departed the Continental U.S. on October 23, 1945 bound for the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with the 99th Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Company (field artillery) in the army of occupation in Japan. Earned the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation (Japan) Medal. Honorably discharged as a Technician 4th Grade on November 27, 1946 at the Separation Center, Fort Lewis, Washington.
