2151 Earl "Bart" Richardson, 62, of Noble, Illinois, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at his residence.

Bart was born June 19, 1959 in Clay County, Illinois, he was the 10th child of 12 children born to John and Allene (Burton) Richardson.

Bart was a graduate of West Richland High School, class of 1977. He worked in Olney, Illinois at Roadmaster and Jabat. He was the 10th child of 12 children born to John and Allene (Burton) Richardson.

Bart is survived by his brother, Jerry (Darlene) Richardson of Noble; brother, Jim (Julia) Richardson of Olney; sister, Eva (Rick) Toumbs of Chatham; sister, Ginger (Rick) Harper of Passport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenny, Harold, Ronnie, Ike, and Gene Richardson; sisters, Pat Beal and Linda Harris; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

2152 Earl "Hambone" Eldon Hamilton, age 88, of Louisville, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2:42 am, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Hambone was born on October 5, 1929, in Clay County, IL, the son of the late Earl Theodore Hamilton and the late Juanita Cornelia (Lynn) Hamilton.

He was self employed as an oil driller, carpenter and farmer. He spent many years as an antique dealer and finisher and loved to go to sales.

Hambone is survived by wife Betty (Brown) Hamilton of Louisville; sons Mike Hamilton, Greg (Deanna) Hamilton, and Kim (Shari) Hamilton all of Flora; daughters Ava Siterlet of Springfield, IL and Trudy (Dave) Koontz of Flora; twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren.

Arrangements are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 1, 2017. A private family services and burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donors choice.

Mr. Yates, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Guy Yates, had been a patient at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis since Nov. 25, suffering from cell complications in the brain.

Earl Bryan Eckelberry, 41, died March 19, 2004 due to an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 22, 2004 at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, WV. Pastors Joe Ward and Bill Dulaney will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Eckelberry was born in St. Croix Falls, WI, son of Dale F. and Marjorie S. (Payne) Eckelberry.

He worked at Ames True Temper since 1994 and was a member of the Blennerhassett Bass Club. He was a Yeoman in the United States Navy.

Survivors include his parents; wife Michele Eckelberry of Danville; sons Brandon Earl and Blake Edwards Eckelberry of Danville; maternal grandparents Earl and Doris Payne of Clay City; mother and father-in-law Edward Earl and Nancy Davis of Davisville; and many other family members.

2155 Earl Dean Bratton, age 68, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday afternoon, June 10, 2022, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

Dean was born January 7, 1954, in Flora, the son of Cecil Vernon and Rosamond Lee (Marvel) Bratton.

He worked throughout his life in the oilfields, for the City of Fairfield, at NAL, and also as a truck driver. Fishing, gardening, and hunting for arrowheads were some of his favorite ways to spend time. Dean will also be remembered for his appreciation of horses and the traditions of the Western cowboy lifestyle. He and Mary Ellen were members of First Southern Baptist Church of Flora.

Dean is survived by his wife of 26 years: Mary Ellen Johnson Bratton of Flora; a stepdaughter: Paula Young Denton of Flora; 2 grandkids: Ryan (Dawn) Wiles and Stevi (Josh) Brinkley of Flora; 4 great-grandkids: Alex and Shae Wiles, and Izzabella and Kimp Brinkley; 2 sisters: Joyce Hagerud and Jan Vaught of Fairfield; a nephew and a niece: Robert Bratton and Susan Grove of Fairfield; a great-niece and 2 great-nephews: Abigail Galbraith and Lucas & Caleb Galbraith; an aunt: Dolores (the late Don) Bratton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces and nephews by marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Virginia Grimes.

A visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Private burial will be later at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Wayne County. 2158 Earl E. WEASE, 74, of Noble, died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday Nov. 12, 1994 at his home.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Noble with Brother William LITTLE officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery rural Clay County. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. WEASE was born on June 5, 1920, in Richland County, the son of John A. and Clara Mae (RYKER) WEASE. He married Ruth V. SCAMMAHORN Aug. 3, 1943.

He worked in the receiving department at AMF. He was a Jehovah's Witness.

He is survived by his wife, of Noble; two sons, Glen E. WEASE, of Wyoming, and D. WEASE, of Dion, AK; two daughters, Mrs. Clifton (Betty Jean) WILSON, of Noble, and Norma Jane STONE, of West Liberty; a brother, Chester WEASE, of Olney; five sisters, Edith BOXELL, of Flora, Alice PATTERSON, of Clay City, Mildred PATTERSON, and Mabel SOUDER, both of Noble, and Leone MASTRONI of Champaign; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. WEASE was preceded in death by his parents.

2160 Earl Edwin Payne, 79, of Olney, IL, formerly of Clay City, died May 20, 2006, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Mr. Payne was born April 9, 1927 in Clay County, the son of Crawford and Bertha Earhart Payne. He married Famie Gray January 11, 1953.

He was a retired meat cutter and member of Clay City First Baptist church. He was a U. S. Army veteran, and a member of Olney Oddfellows, and Sailor Springs American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter Earlene Cunningham; a son, David Payne; a brother, Sherman Payne; a sister, Dorothy Brown; and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, Robert, Walter, Glen, and Ralph; and two sisters, Amy Grabowski and Edna Wyatt.

Funeral services were held at Clay City First Baptist Church with burial in Clay City Cemetery.

Graveside military rites were handled by the Sailor Springs American Legion.

Summers-Kistler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born near Olney, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Patterson and had lived in Decatur and Niantic for many years where he was a retired employee of the Wagner Casting Co. 2163 Earl Harry Snow, 73, a resident of Clay City the past five years, passed away Wednesday.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Easley & Padgett Funeral Home with Bro. Jesse Kindred officiating. Burial will be in Hanna Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Florence Nash and Mrs. Beulah Nash, both of Elvis, Mo.; Mrs. Blanche Nash of Iron Mountain, Mo. and Annie Hurt of St. Louis, Mo.

2164 Earl Leroy Slover, age 89, of Flora, IL passed away on June 23, 2009.

He was born July 20, 1919 to Leroy and Florence (Bothwell) Slover, the fifth of seven children.

Earl enlisted in the Navy in 1942. As an enlisted man, Earl was one of the relatively few naval veterans who fought WWII on both sides of the world, serving from 1942-1945. He first saw action in operation torch and the invasion of North Africa. Then he saw action in the South Pacific, including the invasion of Okinawa and preparations for the invasion of Japan, which was not needed after the use of the atomic bomb and the surrender of Japan.

Earl married Jacquie Dillman of Louisville on September 25, 1948. Earl had one son previously, J.W. Slover and he and Jacquie had a son, Douglas Slover. Earl retired from the Flora Unit #35 School District in 1982. He was a hard worker who held several jobs throughout his life and was dedicated to them, as well as life. Earl was a dedicated member of the First Christian Church of Flora, IL for over 60 years. He was also a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge #204, Veteran of Foreign War Post #3999 and American Legion Post #14, all of Flora.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacquie; two sons: Jerry "J.W." Slover & wife Joy of Delaware, OH and Douglas Slover & wife Debbie of St. Peter, IL; 7 grandchildren: Kyle Slover & wife Michelle of Morrisville, NC, Karla Sargent of Cincinnati, OH, Carla Bender and husband Pat of Henderson, KY, Erik Slover & friend Ama Hapke of Marion, IL, Kristan Slover of Flora, Jeremy Cook & friend Danielle Moats of Flora, and Justin Cook & wife Brittany of Terre Haute, IN. He is also survived by two siblings: a sister, Clara Helen Boyd of Salem, IL and a brother, John Slover & wife Thelma of Flora; a brother-in-law: Robert Hockman of Flora; along with several grandchildren.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents (Leroy and Florence Slover), a brother (Robert Slover), and 3 sisters ( Doris Slover, Dorothy McGrew, and Margaret Hockman).

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday (June 26, 2009) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville, with military honors. 2165 Earl M. HERDES, 85, of Clay City, died at 3 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at the Clay County Hospital.

Mr. HERDES was born on Feb. 3, 1910, in Clay County, the son of Charles and Ruby (BYRNE) HERDES. He married Lelia May MITCHEL in 1930. She died in 1994. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church.

Surviving are one son, David HERDES, of Clay City; three daughters, Donna HERDES of Clay City, Dionne CREAMER of Louisville, and Darlene LAMBIRD of Clay City; one sister, Sadie EVANS of Clay City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, one sister and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Sailor Springs Christian Church. Brother Larry SCHNAUTZ and Brother Neal KENLEY will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery, rural Clay City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Clay City. He was born June 20, 1920 in Flora, Illinois to Charles A. and Iris Lee (Simpson) Dulaney. On July 11, 1945 he married Jane Walker who survives. Earl was a veteran of the Army Air Force. He was a tool specialist and safety inspector for Haliburton. Earl is survived by: Wife- Jane Dulaney of Battle Creek. Daughters- Phyllis (Victor Zeuzem) Dulaney of San Mateo, CA., Syd (Hank James) Dulaney of Plainwell, Son- Pat (Rose) Dulaney of Marshall, Sister- Ruth (Roy) Stanford of Flora, IL. 2182 East Prairie - Alva Denton, 86 years old, of East Prairie, died Friday at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Sept. 28, 1905, in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Joel Isaac and Rosa Fender Denton.

He lived most of his life in Mississippi County, where he was a retired bus driver. He was a member of the First Church of God here.

On Dec. 8, 1923, he married Evelyn Rodgers. She died Dec. 25, 1979. On Mar. 7, 1983, he married Audie Chessor. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Rodger Denton; one stepson, Stanley Chessor; one daughter, Ilene Denton Bell; one sister, Nina Hunter; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held today at the First Church of God. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

2183 East Prairie - Leslie Isaac Denton, 77 years old, of East Prairie, died Friday at his home. He was born Oct. 6, 1889, in Clay County, Ill.

Mr. Denton married Miss Eva Orene King on July 21, 1925, she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Martin; a son Leslie Denton, Jr.; four sisters, Mrs. Arlie Hunter, Mrs. Earl Sapp, Mrs. Ray Logan and Mrs. Harry Mills; three brothers, Alva Denton, Wm. Denton and Ben Denton; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Denton was a retired merchant, farmer and real estate dealer. He also operated grocery stores in East Prairie, Anniston and Pulltight. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

She was born Apr. 28, 1909, in Clay County, Ill., the daughter of Joel I. and Rosetta Fender Denton. She married Samuel Prather, who died Oct. 17, 1958. She later married Arlie Hunter, who died July 17, 1968.

She had lived in East Prairie most of her life, and owned a grocery store for several years.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

Funeral service will be held Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery near Charleston.

2185 EBER O. WILSON, Age 88 of Flora,IL formerly of Johnsonville,IL passed away at 4:54 PM; Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center at Mt. Vernon, IL. He was born on April 3, 1919 at Keenes to Otis & Audra (Garrison) Wilson. He married Ruth M. McQueen on Oct. 31, 1937 at St. Charles, MO and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2000.

He retired as a clerk at the Otis Wilson Store in Johnsonville, IL. He was a member of the Johnsonville United Methodist Church, a Veteran of WW II where he was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in 1945. During war he received various medals for his various acts of courage. He received a Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. For his wound at the Battle of the bulge he received a Purple Heart.

He was a lifetime member of the DAV at Centralia, IL; lifetime member of the American Legion & the VFW both of Flora, IL and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Flora, IL. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Surviving Eber are: 1 Sister – Bernita Barnfield of Cisne and Several Neices and Nephews, and a special friend Lloyd Clements of Johnsonville, IL He was preceded in death by: His Wife, 1 Infant Sister & His Parents. Funeral services for Eber Wilson will be at 10:00AM Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 at Hosselton Funeral Home with burial at Johnsonville Cemetery. There will be military services at the graveside. Visitation will be held from 6-8Pm Monday at the funeral home.

2187 Ed Ginder, 67, of Olney, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at his home.



Ed was born on September 8, 1956 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Julian H. and Mary P. (Kocher) Ginder. He married Elizabeth J. Dallmier on April 17, 1982 in Ste. Marie, Illinois, and she survives.



Ed took pleasure in being out in nature and prided himself on the art of landscaping. He enjoyed attending auctions and getting a good deal. Ed loved trips with his family and especially loved spending time with his granddaughter.



Ed was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown.



Ed is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ginder of Olney; son, Wayne Ginder of Lawrenceville; daughter, Heather Atkins and husband Tom of Olney; granddaughter, Elisabeth Atkins; brothers, Henry Ginder and his wife, Nina, of Olney, Leo Ginder and his wife, Mary Pat, of Clare, Mich., Richard Ginder and his wife, Robbie, of Olney, Laurence Ginder and his wife, Nancy, of Olney, William Ginder and his wife, Jana, of Olney; and numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Janel Ginder, and sister, Nadine Zwilling.



A Funeral Liturgy for Ed will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the church.



Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is assisting the family with arrangements.



Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Stringtown.

2189 Ed L. VanBlaricum, 74, of Noble rt 1, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Richland Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Noble Chapel of the Cardascio-Easley Funeral Home, with Pastor Philip R. Colburn officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery near Noble.

He was born Sept. 19,1900 in Clary County, Illinois. On Feb. 25, 1922, he married Bernice Schnell in Olney.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Leon and Harold, both of Noble; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four brothers, James of Mattoon, Verle of Mattoon, Albert of Olney, and Glenn of Princeton; and two sisters, Mrs. Effie Schnell of Noble and Mrs. Wanda Patterson of Denver City, Tex.

Mr. VanBlaricum was a member of the Noble Seventh Day Adventist Church.

2190 Edgar C. "Ed" Sarvis, 91, Salina, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004.

Mr. Sarvis was born August 14, 1912, at Brewster. He was a salesman for Leidigh and Havens Lumber Company and Larson Building Center, both of Salina. He was a member of The University United Methodist Church, The Methodist Men, The Salvation Army Advisory Board, The Salina Kiwanis Club, The National and Kansas State Rifle Association, The Quivera Gun Club, a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post #1432, the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, and the Salina Men's Golf Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific as a "storekeeper" aboard the Destroyer Escort, The USS Leland E. Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Zella; his second wife, Lucile; a son, John; and two stepsons, Jack Haney and Bob Haney.

Survivors included a sister, Rita Cole of Carmichael, CA; a special friend, Audre Bird of Salina; three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 14 great step-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the University United Methodist Church, Salina. Inurnment with military honors by the V.F.W. Post #1432 will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

2193 Edith Helen Richardson, 65, of Passport, died at 1:49 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Mrs. Richardson was born on February 22, 1943, in Richland County, the daughter of Delbert and Theresa Rosina (Hinterscherer) Stark. She married Kenneth Richardson on April 11, 1964. He survives.

She was a retired teacher and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband, Kenneth Richardson; daughters, Renee Johnson and her husband, Wade, of Dallas, Texas, Nicole Underwood and her husband, Andy, of Noble, and Shalene Taylor and her husband, Chad, of Olney; and three grandchildren, Katie and Allison Underwood and Cory Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alice Herdes.

Visitation was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin. Services were at the church with Rev. Father David Braun officiating.

Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

2195 Edith M. Evans, 96, of Clay City, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

Mrs. Evans was born on June 7, 1917 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of George L. Travis and Ida (Scrugham). She married Hubert E. Evans on April 9, 1939 at Clay City Christian Church. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2001.

She was a member of Clay City United Methodist Church and was an avid quilter.

Edith is survived by her daughter, Sandra K. Brooks and husband, Don of Dixon, KY; son, Ray Evans and wife, Jackie of Clay City; grandchildren, Sherri Buchanan and husband, Jamie of Madisonville, KY, Anthony Evans of Clay City, Tonia Duncan and husband, Greg of Dixon, KY, and Erica Paul and husband, Sam of Salem, IL; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Dorothy Baylor of Fairfield, IL; brother, Leon Travis of Clay City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Clay County or Flora Rehab and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home. Visitation on Sunday evening 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery.

2197 EDITH MAE COLCLASURE, 92 of Camden, OH passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Woodland Country Manor Somerville, OH. Born on August 4, 1922 in Sailor Springs, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late George & Mae (Conley) Crouse. Edith married Isom "Cal" Colclasure on December 31, 1940.

Edith was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, OH where she was active in church affairs. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, flower and vegetable gardening. In the early years of her marriage she and the family lived in Canada, South America and 12 other U.S. states. After returning from South America they settled in Ohio where she remained the rest of her life.

Preceded in death by her husband: Isom "Cal" Colclasure in 1987; son: Dennis Lynn Colclasure in 1954; sister Marie Wattles and a grandson: Shane Rush.

Survivors include her daughter: Peggy (Bob) Rush of Eaton, OH; sons: Jerry (Peggy) Colclasure of Dallas, GA and Larry (Carol) Colclasure of Middletown, OH; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Monday December 29, 2014 at the First Southern Baptist Church 35 North Liberty Street Camden, OH. The Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Dr. Greg Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden, OH.

2198 Edith Naomi Devore, 87, Flora, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday in Clay County Hospital in Flora.

Services will be Saturday at the John T. Frank Funeral Home in Flora with Rev. Roscoe Rose presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Devore was born June 10, 1894, in Clay County, the daughter of James T. and Agnes (Smith) Chambliss. She married William Devore in 1914 in Louisville and he preceded her in death.

She was a lifetime member of the Flora Methodist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Robert, Glenn, Earl, and Paul, all of Flora; four daughters, Geneva Leathers and Ellen King, both of Flora; Evelyn Schnepper, Louisville; and Clara Willis, Olney; two brothers, Glenn Chambliss, Grand Junction, Co.; and Theodore, Gibson City; a sister, Elsie Farris, Colorado Springs, Co.; 28 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Harold.

2199 Editha L. Peebles, 90, of Louisville, died at 6:09 p.m. Sunday Sept. 22, 1996, at her home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City, with Bro. Larry Schnautz officiating. Burial will be in Dillman Cemetery in Sailor Springs. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Sailor Springs Christian Church.

Peebles was born Feb. 7, 1906, in Sailor Springs, the daughter of J.E. and Temperance Charlotte (Bryne) Payne. She married Orland Golden in 1928. She then married Wesley Peebles in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1984.

She was a retired LPN at Manteno State Hospital in Manteno. She was a member of Sailor Springs Christian Church and order of the Eastern Star-Dorcas Chapter #5 in Manteno.

She is survived by a sister, Lola Taylor, of Vincennes, Ind.; four nieces, Shirley Harrison Porter, of Louisville, Carolyn Harrison Woodruff, of Pawnee, Audrey Harrison Miller, of Clay City, and Rosemary Taylor Shaft, of Vincennes, Ind.; two nephews, Clarence Harrison, of Clay City, and Don Taylor of Chatham; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, a son, thrree brothers and two sisters.
