Earned The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal, The American Campaign Medal, The European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with 3 bronze battle stars, The WWII Victory Medal And The Good Conduct Medal. Honorably discharged with a disability certificate as a Private First Class on 1 October 1945 at Harmon General Hospital at Longview, Texas. Died of medical complications and buried with military honors at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora Illinois. Also honored at the WW II Memorial in that city.

Evacuated to England and thence to stateside hospitals. Earned The Combat Infantryman Badge, The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, The American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars and The Good Conduct Medal. After recuperation, honorable discharge with a Certificate of Disability as a Private First Class from the Percy Jones Hospital Center at Fort Custer, Michigan on 25 June 1945.
