3053 | Full Obituary Larry Lawrence Kauble, 80 of Cisne, IL. passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, at his residence. Larry was born on April 16, 1943, in Clay City, IL, to Lawrence and Lucille (Wyatt) Kauble. He married Sharon Dietz at his parents house on July 11, 1970, and she survives. Larry worked for several years at Snap on Tools. He also was a farmer, raised livestock and had worked for Ivan Jones in the oil field. He was very active in the Wayne County Fair, helping the 4-H kids with their livestock projects. He was a very dedicated member of the Fairfield Coin Club since 2008, he served as Vice President for eleven years. He was also a member of the Fairfield American Legion and Fairfield Elks Club. Larry also served in the United States Navy. One of his past times was going to Lewiss Scrap Metal in Burnt Prairie to find a treasure and recycling it into something he could use. He always enjoyed his trips to Canada. He would always say I do not know how much hunting or fishing we will do, but it was always up in the air as to whom would tell the biggest story. Larry was quite a joke teller and incredibly good at it. He will be missed by all who knew him. Larry is survived by his wife Sharon; one daughter Melissa (Bobby) Risley of Olney, IL, a son Ashley Kauble of Olney, IL; and one brother Loren (Dorothy) Kauble of Clay City, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Lana Harrison and Linda Harbaugh. Private family services will be held at a later date. His residence had been in Ramsey for the past four years. Mr. Hutchings was married to Ethel M. Frailey in June 1955. 3086 | FUNERAL SERVICES WERE THURSDAY FOR MIKE QUINN Funeral services for Mike Quinn were conducted Thursday, June 23rd from the First Christian Church in Beaver City. Mr. Leonard Wilfong, pastor, officiated at the last rites. Mike Quinn, son of Bridget and James Quinn, was born on April 13, 1878 at Kentland, Indiana and passed from this life on June 19, 1960 at the St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook Nebraska at the age of 82 years, two months and six days. He moved with his parents to Furnas County when he was 18 months old; to where they homesteaded, which was 3 miles southeast of Hollinger. He was the youngest of 11 children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. He was united in marriage to Anna Mae Gilchrist of Iowa on January 22, 1902 and to this union five children were born: Frank S. Quinn of Caldwell, Idaho, Robert A. Quinn of Long Beach, California, Emery A. Quinn of Beaver City, Floyd E. Quinn of Edison and Ella M. Weir of Beaver City. Robert of Long Beach, California was the only child not present for the last rites being here recently and returning home two weeks ago. Mike farmed in this county most all his life and the greater portion of that time, 30 years, was spent on a farm four miles south of Beaver City. After coming to Nebraska, he lived his entire life in this county except for one year which was spent in Colorado. In the fall of 1943 they moved to Beaver City and have made it their home ever since. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and five children. He also leaves 10 grandchildren: Grant Quinn, Bernard Quinn, Alta Hahn, Bobby Quinn, Alonzo Quinn, Phyllis Hardin, Dennis Quinn, Jeanine Quinn, Donna Reiss and Gerald Quinn. Gerald was unable to be present for the services since he was in Spain. He also leaves 19 great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In all the years of his treatments and in his suffering he was very patient and never complained. He will be remembered by the people of this community as one who was always ready and willing to help those in need. He will be remembered by his family as a kind and loving father. "That Beautiful City" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sang by Mrs. Leonard Wilfong and Mrs. Don Dusenberry. Mrs. Lyle Mayo accompanied the singers at the organ. 3096 | G.A.R. 111h Illinois Frederick W. Songer came to Colorado on June 6, 1859. When he was struck by a Golden interurban car at Brown's station near West 44th Ave., Frederick W. Songer was 92 years old. The Pioneer Coloradan and Civil War veteran was killed and his body dragged 100 feet. The aged man was waiting to take the car to Denver. 3097 | GAHANNA, Ohio Capt. Virgil I. Heap, USMC, retired, age 77, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Born in Dewey, he joined the Marine Corps in 1951. After 20 years of decorated service, he retired from the Marines in 1971 and went on to a career as a financial adviser. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Elza and Marie (Ark) Heap and two brothers, Vernon and Elmer, all of Dewey. 3100 | Gail Stanford, 57, Rt. 2, Clay City, died Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in Carle Hospital, Urbana. He was born in Clay City Jan. 1, 1920 to Jesse and Emma Warren Stanford. He married Maxine Shields Dec. 10, 1955 in Mt. Vernon. Surviving are his wife; daughters, Nita Marie Stanford, at home; and Mrs, Gary (Nancy) Pearce, Flora; two sons, Stephen Wayne Wiley, Clay City, and David Lee, at home; brothers, Clydean, Las Cruces, N.M. and Vancil, Douglas, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, south of Clay City, and was a veteran of World War II. Services will be at the Cadascio Funeral Home, Clay City. Burial will be in Zion cemetery, rural Clay City. The Rev. Sherrill Leckrone will officiate. There will be full military rites at the grave site. | Stanford, Edwin Gail (I2104)
