3162 | Gene E. "Bob" Craig, 81, of Olney, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Sue Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney. Mr. Craig was born December 1, 1926, in Richland County, the son of Ernest Matthew and Katie Ethel (Williamson) Craig. He married Elizabeth Hursta on December 24, 1945, in Olney. She survives. He was co-owner of Murvin & Craig Drilling Company. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, charter member of American Legion and Elks, and lifetime member of Richland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Craig is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Craig, of Olney; daughter, Cheryl Jean (Craig) O'Reilly and her husband, Richard, of Olney; son, Robert Keith Craig and his wife, Sherry Dale, of Olney; sisters, Lorraine Leaf, of Olney, and Lucille Kistner, of Olney; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Richardson was born October 29, 1948 in Noble, IL, the son of John and Allene (Burton) Richardson. He married Betty Sue Winchester on November 14, 1971. She survives. Gene was a self-employed licensed plumber. He was a Vietnam Veteran and active member of the VFW. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather (Papa). He was known by many & will be missed by all. 3175 | Geneva Wilson, 100, of Salem, formerly of Clay City, passed away on November 3, 2013, in Salem , Illinois. She was born on March 2, 1913, to James Thurman Mitchell and Lilie (Osterman) Mitchell. She married Bernard McDowell and he preceded her in death. She then married Gerald Wilson on August 2, 1958, in Clay City and he also precedes her in death. Geneva earned her teachers certificate at Eastern Illinois University and went on to teach at several local schools in the Noble-Wynoose area. She was also a piano teacher and played piano at church; as well as being a Sunday School teacher for many years. Geneva enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was very involved in her church and supported foreign and domestic missionary work. In her later years, she was active at the nursing home where she resided, Doctors Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Salem and enjoyed participating in the church services. She took pleasure in socializing with the staff and residents. Geneva is survived by her daughter, Vivian Brooks; daughter, Barb Shock; stepson, Darrell Wilson and wife, Margie; stepson, Brig. Gen. He was stationed at Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota and served a six month tour in Vietnam. George worked in construction and was a longtime member of the Olney Coin Club and was a member of the American Legion. Fults in 1971 at Third Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria and his two sons, George Jr. and Shane Robert, both of Springfield. He is also the little brother of three half-sisters, Mabel R. Leo (Frank), Nancy L. Knott and Roberta L. Hill (Paul) George retired from the Springfield City Police Department in 2000. The past several years he greatly enjoyed driving the activity bus for the residents of the Capitol Retirement Village. He was a volunteer at the Tri-City Food Pantry in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church. George was born April 21, 1928 in Noble, Illinois, the son of Louis Fryburger and Emma (Barnett) Fryburger. George married Maxine (Mitchell) on June 18, 1956 and were side by side for their 67 years of marriage. George was a lifelong carpenter and farmer. He served in the US Army, sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge on his 21st birthday to serve in Korea. George enjoyed woodworking and making furniture, which he often gifted to his many friends. He and his wife, Maxine, always had a big garden to share with others. George was steadfast in his faith, and he made sure to take time to read his bible every day. He always loved to help others and his home was open to everyone. Most of all, George enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family. George's large smile and huge heart will be missed by all those that knew him. George is survived by his wife, Maxine Fryburger; daughter, Deborah Hanson and husband Richard of Morris, IL; son, Brad Fryburger and wife Susan of Olney; grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Wolanik of Crystal Lake, IL, Shelly (Phillip) Ahn of Chicago, IL, Kyle (Valeria) Hanson of La Jolla, CA, Ellen (Tony) Brown of Noble, Emily (James) Schoonover of Olney, and Jonathan (Ashley) Fryburger of Noble; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 3191 | George Jackson Jack Slover, age 79 of Calhoun, went home to be with his Lord at 3:24 PM, on Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 from his residence in Calhoun. Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial service to honor the life of Jack will be held on Monday, December 3rd, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Stasi-Grove Funeral Home. Reverend Ben Woollard will be the officiating minister and Military Rites will be performed by the Richland County Veterans Organization. Jack was born on January 20th, 1933 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Mildred (Gross) Slover. He later married Patricia Heath on January 15th, 1957 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She survives. Jack was a member of the Eureka Church of Christ, and a truck driver by profession. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted in the army on February 24th, 1953 and he received an honorable discharged from the service on February 23rd, 1955 after completing his tour of duty. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and working in his garden. He was particularly proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. Kenny was born on April 20, 1929 in Louisville, IL, the son of DeFay Orin and Iva Hazel (Guinn) Roush. He married Vernal Coble on April 18, 1954 at First Christian Church in Flora. Kenny was an active and supportive member of First Christian Church in Flora. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked as a roughneck and driller in the oilfields, was a driver's license superintendent in several counties, and thoroughly enjoyed driving a school bus in later years for high school sporting events. His memberships included the Masons where he received his 50 year pin, Shrine, Kiwanis, and had been a member of Odd Fellows. Kenny and Vernal enjoyed bowling and owned the Flora Bowl for 10 years and for 20 years they have traveled to Texas for the winters. In addition to playing baseball, he also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. Kenny loved his family and truly loved being around children. Kenny is survived by his wife: Vernal Roush; a daughter: Kimberly Ranson (husband Steve); daughter-in-law: Janet Roush; brother-in-law: Don Lusk; three grandchildren: Chad Ranson (wife Abbi), Aaron Ranson (wife Leigh), and Amber Ranson; four great-grandchildren: Bella and Molly Ranson, Lily and Harper Ranson; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gregory, and a sister Norma Jean Lusk. The funeral service for Kenny Roush will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with his son-in-law Steve Ranson officiating with Ben VanHyning assisting. Interment will follow in Floral Garden of Memories, Flora, with military honors. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. (noon) - 2 p.m. on Thursday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. 3195 | George Luther Worrell, 86, Flora, and formerly of Richland County, died Sunday, July 28, 1985, in Clay County Hospital in Flora. Services will be Tuesday in Zirkle Funeral Home with Pastor Daren Durey presiding. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today with Masonic Rites at 8:30 p.m.. Burial will be in Haven Hil Cemetery. Mr. Worrell was born June 19, 1899, in Richland County, the son of Orin Foster and Clara (Webber) Worrell. He married Ruth Pearl Seessongood and she died. He then married Martha Sterchi and she died. He then married Mildred McGrew Stanford, June 4, 1972 and she survives. He farmed, worked at the International Shoe Co., and worked for Union Oil Co. for 26 years. He was also Richland County Court Bailiff for 16 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason; a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 926; the Flora Moose; and was a member of the United Church of Christ. Other survivors include a daughter, Betty Rae West, Mendon, Mich.; a step-daughtre, Sue Pettit, Flora; three step-sons, Bill, Jerry and Dick Stanford, all of Flora; three sisters, Hazel Parsons and Genelle Henne, both of Olney; Evelyn Doty, Newton; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. 3196 | George M. McDowell, 86, of Noble, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Florida. George was born September 13, 1935 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of Clifford McDowell and Margaret (Patterson). George enjoyed working as a welder and took pleasure in his welding projects. He had an incredible imagination and the mechanical ability to build it. George was a true do-it-yourself engineer. George enjoyed camping in Florida and riding his motorcycle. He also was proud of his underground home and would like to show it off to friends. George will be missed by all those that knew him. George is survived by his son, Scott McDowell and wife Connie of Olney; daughter, Vicki Shawver and husband Jack of Olney; special friend, Debbie Blank of Louisville, IL; grandchildren, Lacy (Kirk) Walters, Colby (Alexis) Shawver, Brittany (Connor) Dixon, Coen McDowell, and Cade McDowell; great grandchildren, Rylyn, Irelan, Parker, Brynn, and Case; sisters, Christine Guyer and Ruth Ann Hazel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gaylen, Merle, and Paul McDowell. A funeral service for George will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior. 3198 | George Moseley, 83, Clay City, died 1:30 p.m. Thursday in his home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home in Clay City with Bro. Barry Sikes presiding. Visitation will be in the funeral home. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery. Mr. Mosely was born March 19, 1900, in Clay County, the son of Bennett and Maude (Travis) Moseley. He married Cleo Abbott July 9, 1932, in Fairfield and she survives. He was a retired laborer with Union Oil Co.; and a member of the Clay City Christian Church. Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Poole, Pueblo, Colo.; Pauline Harbin, Flora; Mrs. Ruth Ann Thomann, Noble; and Mrs. Georgia Rosborough, River Dale, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. 3199 | George Nelson Weidner, age 60, of Louisville, IL passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his home in Louisville. He was born July 1, 1952 in Flora, IL to George L. and Bernette (Phillips) Weidner. He married Nancy Pierson on September 29, 1972 in Hoosier Prairie. Nelson was retired from family farming and enjoyed mushroom hunting and finding an opportunity to fish. He was a member of Flora Sons of American Legion and the VFW. Nelson will be remembered for his friendships and the times he enjoyed with family. He is survived by a daughter: Amanda Lynn Weidner; a son: George Matthew Weidner; a brother: Neil (Shannon) Weidner; 3 sisters: Rita Weidner, Marsha Blair, Cathi (Rick) Bailey; along with special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
