Ada was born on March 13, 1940 in Clay County, IL to Menford and Fern (Rumley) West. She married Ben Baker on December 15, 1955 and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1964. Ada worked as a waitress for many years and was of the Protestant faith. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her. Ada is survived by her three children: Diana Marie Jett (Alan), Troy Lee Baker (Traci), Maria Louise Bridges (David); two brothers: David West (Judy) and James "Red Top" West (Mary); one sister: Norma Quandt; seven grandchildren: Cheryl Humphrey, Timothy Lee Judy, Shannon Alley, Scott Jett, Ian Baker, Benji Castleberry, Ethan Castleberry; a step-grandchild: Jonathan Bridges; and a number of great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers (Roy, Harvey, Ronnie and Robert West), three sisters (Mary Schnell, Betty Pearl and Sarah Jones), and a granddaughter (Crystal Judy). A graveside service for Ada Baker at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora, IL will be announced at a later date. 420 | Adam Hinterscher, age 76, well known resident of the Passport and Wendelin communities passed away early this morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient a short time. He had been in ill health recently. A native of Clay County, Mr. Hinterscher was born the son of George Hinterscher and Sophia Drewes Hinterscher. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church at Wendelin. Mr. Hinterscher followed trucking as an occupation. His wife Clara preceded him in death in 1936. He leaves three children: George Hinterscher and Mrs. Delbert (Theresa) Stark both of Noble and Floyd Hinterscher of Oblong. There are 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister and three brothers: Mrs. Regina Seckinger of Bogota, Henry Hinterscher of Noble, Joe and John Hinterscher both of Ingraham. He has been preceded in death by his wife, a grandchild, four brothers and one sister. Due to Holy Week services at the Church a Burial service will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery at Wendelin with the Funeral Mass to be recited at Holy Cross Church. Rev. Fr. Walter Myerscough will officiate at both services. Friends may call at the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home and the Holy Rosary will be recited in the funeral home. Runyon Jr., age 51 of Olney was pronounced dead on arrival yesterday morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital following an apparent heart attack suffered at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Kirk officiating. Interment will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be rendered by the Olney Veteran organizations. Visitation will be in the funeral home 6 to 9 P.M. Tuesday. Mr. Runyon was a lifelong resident of the county, the son of Aden J. Runyon Sr. and Mae Nichols Runyon. He was married to Ruthie Faye Hall on Dec. 30, 1950. He was a truck driver for the Navajo freight lines for several years. He served his country in World War 2 and was a member of the Memorial Post No. 4226 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Richland Post No. 30 of the American Legion. He was associated with Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville. Surviving are his wife Ruthie Faye Runyon and two daughters: Mrs. Karen Sue Robards of Pekin and Miss Patricia Ruth Runyon, at home. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Mae Runyon of Olney and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Whitney of Olney. There are three grandchildren. His father, Aden J. Runyon Sr., preceded him in death. They had nine known children including: Byron Leon, Mildred Marie, Lucille May, Harold Dale, Ivan, and Donald.One-car wreck fatal to Bridgeport man Tragedy marred the Fourth of July weekend locally with a fatal wreck Saturday afternoon on the eastern approach to the new bridge over the Embarras River east of Lawrenceville. Dead at the scene was Aden Boatman, 82, 1306 Ash St., Bridgeport. Born in Richland County, Ill., Sept. 24, 1894, he was a son of Clark and Veitura Decker Boatman. His wife, Ruth Craig Boatman, preceded him in death. His survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Betty Graham of Bridgeport, Mrs. Carolyn Senters of Herrin, Ill., and Mrs. Rita Mae Larch of Litchfield, Ky.; three sons, Donald Boat man of Bridgeport, Ivan Boatman and Byron Boatman, both of Sycamore, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Ida Gerber of Rt. 3 Olney, Ill.; one brother, Roy Boatman of Bridgeport; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Two daughters and one son preceded him in death. Mr. Boatman was a member of the First Christian Church in Bridgeport, a World War I veteran, and retired Texaco, Inc., employee.
