He was born October 23, 1923 in Clay County, IL to Benjamin & Magnola (Carlyle) Denton. He married Bernice E. Strange on November 29, 1943 in Louisville, IL. He was the manager of Liberty Gas Station in Flora for 35 years and later worked at Flora Western Auto Store. Hershell enjoyed playing the fiddle and providing music for area nursing home patients. He is survived by his wife: Bernice Denton of Flora; children: Forest Denton & wife Wanda of Puxico, MO, Sharon Atchison & husband Cecil of Marion, Karen Denton of Flora, Terri Ettleson of Flora, Toni Carder & husband Darrell of Clay City; sister: Catherine Cunningham of Flora; brother: Joe Denton & wife Vera of Clay City; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren & two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson (Bryce), two brothers (Dale & Gary Denton), and two sisters (Mary Smith & Lois Payne). Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday (March 11, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hough officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Cemetery, Rinard. 4204	Hilda Irene Franklin, 85, of Pekin, formerly of Farmer City and DeLand, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Hallmark House. Born Oct. 8, 1913, in Olney to Frank and Carrie Schnautz Thomann. She married Henry Franklin on Sept. 20, 1930 in Monticello. He died on Sept. 23, 1990. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and one infant sister. Surviving are two sons, Sylvan and E. Alan; one brother, John "Fritz" Thomann; three sisters, Marguerite Prosser, Katherine Miller and Mabel Pritchard; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She farmed with her husband in the Farmer City-DeLand area for 45 years. She was a 50-year member of the Home Bureau Extension and a member of the Rebekah's of DeLand. 4218	His early years were in Noble, Illinois, where his grandparents and many aunts and uncles also lived. But in 1906, when Everett was 8 years old, his father took a homestead claim near Minot, North Dakota. After proving up on the claim they stayeed at Rover, Missouri (east of West Plains) for a year while his father worked out on other farms. Then they stayed two months at Elk City, Oklahoma before returning to North Dakota. From 1910 to 1918 they farmed in North Dakota, but finding very little profit in it they left North Dakota in October 1918 and drove in a Jeffrey car to Cle Elum, Washington. A year later the family moved to Oregon, settling for about three years in Wapinitia, Wasco County, Oregon, USA. On 16 Oct 1921, Everett married his wife, Alma May Powell, daughter of local farmer John Melvin Powell and his wife, Della Alice White. They got married in the Wapinitia Church, on a Sunday after a regular church service. For a joke, the congregation sang the hymn, "O for the touch of His hand on mine." Soon after they were married, in 1922, they left Wapinitia and moved a few miles away to Maupin, Wasco County, Oregon, USA (this was partly because Maupin received electricity ahead of many of the other communities in Wasco County, Oregon). It was in Maupin that they raised their six children. Everett owned and operated Richmond's Garage in Maupin, along with his father and brother (and later two of his sons). 4248	His parents were Absalom Holler x Nancy Tippins. (This info is from his marriage record to his second wife Permelia). They (his parents) lived in the Washington & Lawrence Counties of Indiana. His first wife was Minerva Jane Bilyeu. She was born around 1835 and died 10 Oct. 1895, Mitchell, Lawrence County Indiana. They had 3 sons that I have found, Jerry, Willis, and William. From the census records for John, he was born around 1840-1842 in Indiana. He lived in Indiana (Washington & Lawrence Counties) until about 1905, when he moved to Louisville Clay Co. Illinois area. His son William also moved to Clay Co. He married his second wife Permelia Jane Weatherman June 10, 1908 in Clay Co. IL. He is in the 1910 census in Clay Co. IL. Permelia married an Andrew Rodgers in 1917, in Clay Co. IL. I found a record of his Civil War Pension Index card, stating he died Sept. 10, 1913 in Mitchell, Lawrence Co. IN. Not sure why he would have been back in that area, but it is possible. I did contact the Lawrence Co Vital Records, but they could find no record of his Death Certificate. Neither can Clay County IL. I ordered his Civil War Pension File, and it confirms his death date. Plus, the rest of the info stated here. I also found the application that was sent for his military headstone to be placed in the Orchard Hill Cemetery.	Holler, John (I55596)
