5247 | Linda Lou Sunday was born on November 30th, 1940 in Clay City, IL. Growing up in Clay City, when she was not tending to her studies and school work, she had the unique experience of working at her family's restaurant, Sunday's Ice Cream Parlor. Sunday's was the "it" establishment in Southern Illinois known for the best homemade ice cream in the region. She attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where she met Mark Yeates the ultimate love of her life. Mark and Linda were married in Kankakee, Illinois on June 6, 1964. They initially lived in Peoria, Illinois where Linda was an elementary school teacher and Mark was trying his hand in sales and marketing roles with local companies. In 1967 Mark accepted a position with Eastman Kodak Company and off she went with Mark and their two year old son Andy to relocate to Rochester, New York, where she continued to teach at the elementary school level. Their daughter Stacey came along one year later and the growing Yeates family settled into Rochester as their home base for years to come. After several years of teaching, Linda's focus turned to Andy and Stacey as she transitioned into a stay at home mom and became CEO of the Yeates household. Outside of caring for Andy and Stacey, Linda had a number of varied interests and passions. She was an avid tennis player and along with Mark became a founding owner of the Mendon Valley Tennis Club. Her passion for food and wine had Linda and Mark actively involved in the Rochester "Gourmet Club" which included a number of their close friends and many a great meal. When Mark retired from Eastman Kodak Company in 1992 Mark and Linda became snowbirds splitting their time between Rochester and various parts of Florida. They ultimately gave up their Rochester roots and moved full time to Sarasota, Florida in 1994. In Florida Linda continued her passion for playing tennis, playing cards and mahjongg, getting out on their boat and enjoying global travel and cruising. She picked up a new passion of working in cut glass designing and constructing numerous decorative pieces and marketing them under her own brand "Yeates Originals". Linda was preceded in death by her parents Oris and Bernice Sunday, husband Mark Yeates and brother Loren Lee Sunday. She is survived by her two sisters - Lois Gidcumb (John) and Anita Lake (Calvin), her two children, who she was incredibly proud of, Andy Yeates (Barbara Yeates) and Stacey Dera (Peter Dera), her six grandchildren - Ryan Yeates, Christopher Yeates, Meghan Yeates, Patrick Yeates, Cameryn Dera, Reese Dera and her many nephews and nieces. She will sorely be missed by all that had the opportunity to know her. A memorial mass for Linda will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL) on Monday, January 29th at 12:00pm. | Sunday, Linda Lou (I19756)
