5432 | Louis A. Morgan Sr., 87, of Olney, passed away at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney after an extended illness. Mr. Morgan was born April 1, 1923, in Richland County, the son of Floyd W. and Ethel (McDade) Morgan. He was a member of North Freedom Baptist Church for many years and was an Honorary member of American Legion. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, and had a great love and fondness for the many people who worked under him at AMF where he worked for 29 years. He proudly served his country in the Army and was a World War II veteran. Mr. Morgan married Shirley Mae Leach on February 15, 1975, and she survives along with his sons, Louis A. Morgan Jr. and wife Janice, of Carbondale, George David Morgan, of Carterville, and Gary Wayne Morgan, of Carbondale; daughters, Georgia Flannery, of Collinsville, Sue Gleason, of Belleville, and Pam Summerfield and husband Mike, of West Salem; stepchildren, Dave Ellison, of Urbana, Kay Wagner, of Austin, Texas, Danny Ellison, of Ganera, Texas, Nora Stout and husband Glenn, of Noble, Vicky Kennedy and Kirk Burnett, of Texas, Frank Ellison, of Ste. Marie, Brenda Ginder and husband Jerry, of Olney, and Steve Ellison and wife Becky, of Claremont; sisters, Margaret Miller and husband Tommie, of West Liberty, Rose Spillman and husband Jim, of Olney, Wilma Cummins and husband Gary, of Olney, Ann Eblin and husband Bob, of Mt. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stringtown. Mr. Volk was born January 31, 1932, the son of Anton Volk and Catherine Kuenstler Volk. He married Lelia Ginder November 22, 1956. She survives. He was a farmer and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Richland County Farm Bureau. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Until the age of 85 Louis enjoyed gardening, fishing and singing in the choir at church. His first love and enjoyment was his family Louis is survived by his wife his wife of 73 years, Ora Louise; children Darlene Ann (Donald) Borst, Patricia Gail (Robert) Vassar and Anthony Louis (Anne) Koza; grandchildren, Donald Arthur (Heather) Borst, Denise Louise Matthew) Borst-Barbian, Robert Anthony (Angela) Vassar, Craig Michael (Lisa) Vassar, Michael Robert-Louis (fiance, Megan) Vassar, Christine Marie (Ryan) Nichols and Renee Lynn (Pete) Volpendesta and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoni and Mary Koza; his twin brothers, Casimer and Eugene Koza and sisters, Mary Smeltor, Constance Stampnick and Stella Koza. Her experience allowed Louise to offer the most contemporary hairstyles of the time, and she was among the first in this area to offer beauty services for nails. She and Wayne enjoyed traveling, especially to places like Branson, and she was a frequent reader of novels.
