5905 | Mr. Donald Myron Jake Bissey, 80, of Clay City, Illinois, died at 4:05 a.m., Tuesday, February 02, 2016, at his home. On March 6, 1935, Jake was born to John Milner and Verda Bernice (Rogers) Bissey in Clay County, Illinois. He married Marilyn J. Gordon on September 28, 1954, in Clay City, Illinois. He worked in the oil business for over 40 years, retiring from the J.W. Rudy Oil Company in 1997 where he served as foreman. He was baptized at Bethel Methodist Church. He was a volunteer fireman for the Clay City Fire Department from March of 1973 to February of 1991 when he retired from the department. He was an active member of his community giving much of his time and many of his talents; he truly enjoyed helping others. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, gardening, lawn work, and deer hunting. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and liked puzzles and snowmobile riding. Spending time with his dogs, Lady and Little Lady, was a great joy. Above all, he loved his family. Jake is survived by his daughter Dona G. Bissey and son David E. Bissey; five grandchildren, Darlene (Jim) Coffin; Jacque (Tom) Holsapple, Jacob Cowger, Brian Keesler and Mariah Wade; four great grandchildren, Mitchell, Jonathan, Sarah and Rachel, and brother, William Lee Bissey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn J. Bissey on July 8th, 2009, eight brothers and four sisters. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, Illinois. Burial will follow at Zif Cemetery in rural Wayne County. She preceded him in death on March 14,1994. He was a self-employed oil field welder, a World War II Army veteran, and a member of Xenia Community Church, Flora VFW Post #3999, and Flora Masonic, Lodge #204 AF& AM. Survivors include one daughter, Sally Carnahan of Kissimmee, Fla.; two grand-daughters, Peggy Lynn George of St. Louis, Mo., and Sally Jean Sidman Johnston and husband John of Danville; four great-grandchildren, Danny, Malinda, Kim and Ronnie; and four great-great-grandchildren, Carley Jean, Christian, Samantha and Abby. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, two brothers, Frank and Bob, and four sisters, Amy, Edna, Maude and Lilly Mae. 5908 | Mr. Eastin was born June 23, 1934 in Bible Grove, Illinois to William Hamilton Eastin and Sarah Irene DeBusk Eastin. He married Lois A. Wheeler on September 29, 1953 in Shawnee Town Illinois. They had met during a ballgame on the third base "Cowpatty" when he was 13 and she was 11. To this union was born three children. Mr. Eastin spent most of his life working in the oil fields in Oklahoma, Illinois, Ohio, Arkansas and Texas. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as the American Legion. He is survived by his wife and children, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a sister, a brother, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Eastin was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brothers. Mr. Eastin will be remembered to many by his strong persevering spirit. 5909 | Mr. Eldon "Cotton" Tungate, age 85, of Flora, died at 7:51p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his daughters home in Flora. Cotton was born January 5, 1928, in Louisville, IL. His parents were the late Raymond & Marie (Tolliver) Tungate, of Louisville, IL. He attended school in Louisville and graduated from North Clay High School in 1946. On December 31, 1949, he married Caroline Bergen in Louisville, IL. Cotton was a lifetime member of the Flora Elks Lodge and also a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Flora. In 1981 he retired from Spartan Manufacturing where he was a cost accountant and personnel manager. In later years he enjoyed keeping books for a number of local businesses and also worked at the Flora Country Club. In 2007, Cotton, a.k.a. "The Blonde Headed Thunderbolt" was inducted into the North Clay Sports Hall of Fame. Cotton is survived by his wife Caroline of Flora, three children; Randy Tungate and his wife Lynda of Lubbock, TX, Mark Tungate and his wife Sherri of Flora, Nancy Buchanan and her husband Chuck of Flora, six grandchildren; Aaron Tungate and his wife Valisa of Ft. Worth, TX, Adam Tungate and his wife Carrie of Lubbock, TX, Kristen Duke and her husband Cole of Flora, Zach Buchanan and his wife Lauren of Flora, and Allison and Paige Tungate both of Columbia, MO, and nine great grandchildren; Luke, Ben, Vayle, Ally, Branson, & Ella Tungate, Eli & Elise Duke and Genevieve Buchanan. 5917 | Mr. Gerald A. "Jerry" Hilderbrand, 81, of Louisville, Illinois, died at 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at his home. Jerry was born on July 20, 1932, to Delbert and Beulah Juanita (Lister) Hilderbrand. On December 17, 1953, Jerry married Floretta "Fran" Vail at Trinity Methodist Church in Flora. Jerry worked at the Flora Shoe Factory and several other local businesses, and he later worked in the feed mill at Effingham Clay FS in Louisville. Jerry proudly chose to honor his country by serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Bloom Baptist Church in Flora and the Louisville American Legion Post #914, and past member of the Flora Moose Lodge #1384, Flora Eagles Lodge #2494, and Flora V.F.W Post #3999. Jerry loved fishing, hunting, and finding mushrooms. He enjoyed listening to the Cardinals games and was the biggest fan of his grandkids' sporting events. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with his family, friends, and two beloved dogs, Buddy and Pretty Girl. 5920 | Mr. Gullick was a retired educator who began his career as a teacher and coach in Tower Hill. He then taught English at Mascoutah High School. Moving into school administration, he became the principal of William Holliday Elementary School in the Pontiac-Holliday School District in Fairview Heights. After nine years, he moved to Lovington, where he was the superintendent of the Lovington Unit District 303. Mr. Gullick served as superintendent of schools later for Mt. Olive, Marissa and retired from the Sesser-Valier Unit District. He was dedicated to doing whatever he could to help children learn all they might to become the best they could be. Mr. Gullick graduated in 1956 from Crete-Monee High School in Crete, earned a B.A. degree in English and History from McKendree College, a M.S. in Education Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and a Specialist Degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Over the years, Mr. Gullick was a member of many professional organizations and served as an officer in most. He was also a member of Kiwanis and earned the designation of distinguished president. Serving as an elected library board member in Lovington, Mt. Olive and Marissa, it gave him great joy because he had always been an avid reader. He was planning to run for another term on the Marissa Area District Library Board this spring. He had served as their president for 15 years. He also served on the Shawnee Library System Board of Directory, which made books and information loans between libraries over most of southern Illinois and often statewide and also served on the board of directors of the Robinett Family Association. 5941 | Mr. Heninger was a retired vice- president of Parish Bank and Trust Co. in Momence after working for them for 65 years. ''Harry was a very dependable person,'' said Parish Bank President John Parish who worked with Mr. Heninger since 1949. ''He knew a lot about people and the industry. I really missed him being around.'' Parish said that after Mr. Heninger retired, people used to come around the bank, asking for him and saying they missed him. ''He was kind of a fixture.'' Whereas Parish began his banking career in '49, Mr. Heninger started during the Depression in 1929. Like most banks in the county, Parish closed in 1931 due to the Depression and reopened a year later. ''There are few people who remembered the Depression and banks failing,'' said Parish. He said Mr. Heninger's incredible memory was a valuable asset to the bank. ''He could counsel and provide background that no one else could,'' said Parish. ''Plus he had an inclination to do community-oriented things.'' For 65 years, until his retirement in 1994, Mr. Heninger worked six days a week at the bank where he began as a bookkeeper in 1929 and rose to vice presidency in 1959. An avid Cubs fan, Mr. Heninger started the Momence youth ''knee pants league'' baseball program in 1948 and for more than 25 years was the voice of all football games at Momence High School. In 1955 he began a 33-year stint as the announcer for the annual Glad Fest parade. He also was active in the organization of the festival and was past president. In 1988, the Momence Chamber of Commerce named Mr. Heninger its Man of the Year. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Momence where he held local, district, and conference offices. His parents are Richard and Karen (Bailey) Stanfield of Louisville. He attended school in Louisville and graduated from North Clay High School in 1985. On November 18, 1989, he married Angie McGrew in Louisville, IL. Jeff worked as a General Contractor with his father at Stanfield Construction for many years. He was most recently employed at Hamilton County Construction. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Louisville where he served as a Deacon, helped lead the youth program, drove the bus, as well as assisted with various other church activities. Jeff's faith and commitment to God and his church were one of his greatest strengths. His hobbies were motocross, being outdoors, tending to his garden and spending time with his wonderful daughters and wife. Most of all, Jeff loved his family. Jeff is survived by his parents Richard and Karen Stanfield, his wife Angie, three daughters, Shayla Stanfield, Kortney and Mikayla Stanfield, and a foreign exchange daughter Anne Magnusson, two sisters, Michele Lovett, and Lisa Fender, eight nieces and one nephew. Born January 24, 1931 in Annapolis, IL, Kenneth was one of eight children and son to John W. and Fairy (Hagar) Guyer. The Guyer family resided in Robinson, IL and later in Evansville, IN where Kenneth attended high school prior to entering the United States Army. Shortly after enlisting, he was engaged to Christine McDowell from Noble, IL and the two were wed on July 25th, 1953 near the Fort Leonard Wood military base in Kansas. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan and South Korea where he was responsible for the engineering and building of runways and bridges. After leaving the military, Kenneth and Christine settled in Minooka, IL where he joined Caterpillar Tractor Inc. At Caterpillar, Kenneth was a part of the Aerospace and Machinists Division and retired with over 30 years of service. Kenneth was a respected member of the Ambassadors for Christ Church in Morris, IL, and a valued member of his community. He had a passion for collecting antiques, reading, and watching old movies. Later in life, he and Christine traveled often to visit with their family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Christine Guyer, Minooka, IL; daughters, Ms. Linda Guyer, Olney, IL, Ms. Karen Guyer, Olney, IL, a son, David Guyer, Flora, IL, and a daughter, Ms. Theresa Guyer (Curt Hecker), Collinsville, IL; six grandchildren, Jamie Apostolou (Naomi), Los Angeles, CA, Kristen Drake (Kenny), Cisne, IL, Heather Henson, Olney, IL, Fawna Forrest, Olney, IL, Hannah Henson, Olney, IL, Jimmy Guyer, Collinsville, IL; six great-grandchildren, Austin Drake, Jill Drake, Trent Easton, Destiny Henson, Serenity Henson, Alma Apostolou, along with several nephews and cousins in the Crawford County area. Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents, John and Fairy; brothers, Norman, Lyle, Keith; sisters, Rhea Stewart, Nona Miller, Dora Bobis, Marie Rankin and a grandson, Shawn Christopher Henson in 1989. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday March 11, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Pastor Scott Polk officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday March 10, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Burial will be in the Bailiff Cemetery, rural West York, IL with military graveside rites provided by combined units of E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, IL, VFW Post #4549, Robinson, IL, AMVETS Post #33, Robinson, IL and Reavill Post #132, Flat Rock, IL. Mr. Guyer served in the US Army-Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Ambassadors for Christ Church, Morris, IL and was employed as a tool and die grinder for Caterpillar Tractor Inc. of Joliet, IL for 32 years. Kenneths hobbies included woodworking in his shop, antique cars, traveling with his wife Christine as well as watching old movies. | Guyer, Kenneth M. (I408)
