6402 Norma Jean Miller, 82, of Flora, IL died at 4:50 AM Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

She was born August 10, 1924 in Clay County, IL to Lester G. & Hester A. (Payne) DeHart. She was employed at JC Penney for 6 years and was a retired employee of Flora Wal-Mart serving most recently as a greeter. Her memberships included Faith Luthern Church of Flora, a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Flora American Legion Auxiliary, the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. Norma enjoyed her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by sons: Wesley E. (Cheryl) Miller of Flora , Stephen D. (Marsha) Miller of Flora; grandchildren: Lisa (Rhett) Kermicle of Morganfield, KY, Sean Miller of Flora, Les (Lesley) Miller of Louisville, KY, Luke (Chelsea) Miller of Hastings, NE, Lindsey Miller of Flora; great granddaughter: Katlyn Jean Kermicle of Morganfield, KY; brother: Bill DeHart of Clay City. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother (Harold DeHart).

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, July 9, 2007 at Faith Luthern Church in Flora. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home and also after 9:30 AM Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Faith Luthern Church and may be received at the funeral home.

6405 Norma Kitley Smith, age 85, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday evening, March 16, 2024, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

She was born September 6, 1938, in Flora, the daughter of Roy H. and Pansy L. (Davis) Kitley. She was united in marriage to Donald Ray Smith on September 6, 1958, in Flora, and together they shared 49 wedding anniversaries until his passing on October 23, 2007.

Norma attended beauty school and worked as a beautician alongside her sister-in-law for a time in Tilton. She enjoyed listening to country music. Norma held a deep, quiet Christian belief, and throughout her life maintained her spiritual home at Harmony United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her siblings: Bill Kitley of Flora, Marilyn Lewis of Flora, and Mike (Kathy) Kitley of Flora; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister-in-law: Kay Kitley; and a brother-in-law: David Lewis.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Marty Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in Kneff Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday evening and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Harmony United Methodist Church, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.

6406 Norma L. (Watson) Franklin, 76, of The Villages, Florida, and formerly of Olney, died peacefully at home on Thursday February 2, 2017.

Mrs. Franklin was born September 28, 1940, in Flora, daughter of Ollie M. (Chaffin) and Davis M. Watson. She married Jack D. Franklin on June 26, 1960, in Clay City. He survives.

Norma Franklin was a dedicated student and teacher with a lifelong passion for education. After graduating Southern Illinois University Carbondale, she taught elementary school in De Land and Rantoul. When her husband began his veterinary career in Carmi, Norma focused on raising their two sons and operating a daycare at their home. Career changes eventually brought the family to Olney, where Norma took classes at Olney Central College and taught yoga. She later earned a degree in nutrition from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, and became a registered dietician. She then taught nutrition at EIU for several years prior to retiring in Florida.

Norma is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jack D. Franklin, of The Villages, Fla.; son, Michael A. Franklin and wife Graciela, of Champaign; son, Matt R. Franklin and wife Christine, of Wooster, Ohio; sister, Nancy R. (Watson) Brown, of Flora; five grandchildren, Richard J.D. Franklin, Johnathon M. Franklin, and Kathryn M. Franklin, of Illiopolis, and Carter M. Franklin and Courtney C. Franklin, of Wooster, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Truman L. Brown, of Flora, and her pAren't s.

6407 Norma lived life to the fullest filling her days with family friends and career. She delighted in her grandsons by making big cookies, rice krispie treats and spoiling them. She lived a life of ministry to others by listening and helping people find their path in times of trouble. She had a passion for work starting her career at Trail Mobile in Charleston, IL. She spent the majority of her working years at Briggs Manufacturing Co, working every facet of the company.

Taking a new direction, she accepted the role of director for the Crawford County Development Association where she worked tirelessly to bring new industry including the ethanol plant to the community. In the past few years her love of manufacturing brought her back to Dana and most recently Cummins, in Charleston, SC.

6408 Norma Maxine Franklin, age 86 of Odessa, TX, passed away on March 12, 2017 in Odessa. Norma was born May 28, 1930 to Harry and Genelle Hance in Noble. Illinois. She went to school in Clay City, Illinois. She married Richard Earl Franklin on April 18, 1948 in Henderson, KT. She was an instructor in ceramics at Odessa College. She owned the Ceramic Shop for 42 years. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Genelle Hance, her son Robert "Bobby" Franklin and her son in law Guy Hutson.

Funeral Services will be at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

6409 Norma was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and had retired as a cook from the Xenia grade school after many years of service. Her church home for over 60 years was Xenia United Methodist Church, where she participated in the women’s group and sewing group, and where she and Edwin faithfully supported the work of the church in countless ways over the years. She enjoyed working outside at home, caring for her garden and flowers, and canning and storing the harvest. 6411 Norman "Sonny" Runyon, 83, of Olney, Illinois passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at his residence.



Sonny was born December 5, 1938 in Olney, Illinois, the son of George and Erma Linda (Rennier) Runyon. He married Mary Hubble on October 31, 1964 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary preceded him in death on August 16, 2019.



Sonny owned Runyon Builders for many years. He was a very skilled home builder and was an excellent carpenter. Sonny served in the US Army from 1958-1961. Sonny enjoyed fishing, especially river fishing for catfish. He took pleasure in spending time at his camp in Russellville. Sonny had many talents and hobbies including making pottery for his family and friends. Sonny's sense of humor and love of life will be missed by all those that knew him.



Sonny is survived by his son, Douglas Runyon and wife Kari of Olney; grandchildren, Wesley (Kristi Smith) Runyon, Krystal (Tony Beard) Haney, Dalton (Julia Camarillo) Runyon, and Jacob (Kierstin Fulton) Runyon; great grandchildren, Dillion (Ariana Smith) Haney, Karlee Haney, and Landon Runyon; great great grandchildren, Navy Foil-Runyon and Luka Haney; brothers, Ed Runyon and George "Pud" Runyon and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Runyon, daughter, Stephanie Jo Runyon; brothers, Kenny Runyon and Frank Runyon; and sisters, Maryanne Heindselman, Norma Jean Lane, and Karen Louise Runyon.



A memorial service for Sonny will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior service time.



Internment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney. Full Military Rites will be performed at the graveside.



Memorials can be made to Carle Center for Philanthropy or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.

6413 Norman G. Rinehart, 83, of Flora, IL died at 1:40 AM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Good Samaritan RHC in Mt. Vernon, IL.

He was born December 30, 1927 in Sailor Springs, IL to Carlos & Pauline (Cambron) Rinehart. He married Helen R. (Colyer) Duke on July 6, 1970 in Olney, IL. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2005. He later married Leona (Gray) McDowell Taylor on June 8, 2006.

Mr. Rinehart was a retired Master Sergeant with Illinois State Police and served in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea.

His memberships and interests included the following: Bethel United Methodist Church in Clay City, lifetime member and past master of both Flora Masonic Lodge #204 AF&AM and Louisville Masonic Lodge #196 AF&AM, Cisne Eastern Star, 82nd Airborne Division Associtation, Past Clay County Deputy Coroner, Past Republican Committeeman, and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife: Leona Rinehart of Flora; three sons: Michael, Eric, and James; three brothers: Carroll Paul, William, Larry; three sisters: Ila Rushing, Rosalee Wildbur, and Mary Lovellette; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Helen), son (Norlan), and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday (March 2, 2011) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville.

There will be Masonic Rites.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Mission Fund, Masonic Charities, Relay For Life, or Illinois State Police Fallen Officer's Fund.

6414 Norman Lee Guyer, 86, of Evansville, passed away at 3:15 am, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Good Samaritan Home.

Norman was born March 31, 1926 in West York, IL to John and Fairy (Hagar) Guyer. He graduated from Hutsonville, IL High School. Norman served his country in the US Army during World War II in the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper in European Theatre of Operations and the Rhineland Campaign. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation until his retirement in 1995, after 39 years. Norman was a member of First Baptist Church and the Come Double Class. Norman was also a member of American Legion Post 265.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Monday, September 10, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Dr. George Huffsmith officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.

6415 Norman M. “Mike” Rinehart, age 71, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 3, 2020, at his home.

He was born September 26, 1949, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the son of Norman G. and Wanda (Cottengaim) Rinehart. He was united in marriage to Sharon E. Wells on July 2, 1988.

Mike was a retired real estate appraiser. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1972 and later entered the United States Army where he served from 1982-1992. He was a Desert Storm Veteran and a very proud Marine. Mike served on the Clay County Board and was a member of the Flora Masonic Lodge. He was an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed gardening and reading.

He is survived by his wife: Sharon Rinehart of Flora; 3 sons: Jason Rinehart of Wheeling, Justin Rinehart of Flora, and James Rinehart of Collinsville; and a brother: Eric (Penny) Rinehart of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Norlan Rinehart and James E. Rinehart.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2020, at Hoosier Prairie Cemetery with the presentation of military funeral honors.
