Services will held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Best officiating. Burial will be in Tolliver Cemetery in Louisville with full military rites performed by Olney veterans. Mr. McPeak was born August 8, 1930, in Clay County, the son of Osa A. and Lola (Tucker) McPeak. He married Alene Kincaid on June 29, 1950. She survives. He was a retired lineman for CIPS. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Olney. He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea. He was an avid woodworker, chip carver, fisherman and outdoorsman. Mr. McPeak is survived by his wife, Alene McPeak, of Olney; son, Bob McPeak and his wife, Tina, of Swansea; son, Randy McPeak and his special friend, Zaidy Costa, of Huntersville, N.C.; daughter, Linda Bower and her husband, Bob, of Auburndale, Fla.; sister, Rose Freeman, of Salem; brother, Charles McPeak and his wife, Mary, of Louisville; brother, John McPeak and his wife, Linda, of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and loved ones. He was born August 29, 1925 in Wayne County, IL to Nolan & Alta Mae (Henson) Dean. He married Jeanette Hufhines on July 3, 1949 in Xenia, IL. He was self-emplyed, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a member of the Brush Creek Community of Christ and the Flora American Legion Post #14. He is survived by his wife: Jeanette Dean of Xenia; two daughters: Kay Miller & husband Randy and Linda Kirkpatrick & husband Jim; one brother: John Galbraith & wife Dorothy; five grandchildren & three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one half-brother, and one half-sister. 7004 | Oscar Halden Bryant was born August 14th 1910 in a log cabin in Clay County, ILL. He was the first child to Ray and O'dessie May(Kistner)Bryant. The cabin was later taken down and moved to a place west of Noble and rebuilt. He was married to Helen Elizabeth Meade daughter of Thomas Telesphorus Meade and Catherine (Burns)in San Diego, California on July 10th 1943. They were parents of seven children--four sons and three daughters. Oscar served in the Navy during World War II. He was attached to the San Diego Armory and was a Gunner's Mate 2nd Class. When he returned to Iowa he settled back into the Cosgrove, Iowa area and farmed. He died in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa on October 13, 1972 and was buried in St. Perer's Cemetery in Cosgrove, Johnson County, Iowa. He married Dorothy M. Kuenstler on September 13, 1949, in Wendelin. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2009. He was a lifelong painter. He was a lifelong member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Jasper Post #20 American Legion. He enjoyed making crafts and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He married Jessie Pearl Taylor and she preceded him in death on May 15, 1978. He retired from Texaco after 43 years. He was a member of the Hi-Way Church of God. He was survived by three sons, Cloyd, Earnst and Billy; a daughter, Erma Dale Barrett; a brother, Roy E. Carter; a sister, Mary Smith; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Shortly after graduating high school Joseph displayed his passion for food as a cook where he served famous people such as John Wayne . In the early 70's Joseph moved back to San Francisco where he worked as a manager for the infamous orphanage nightclub. Here he met the likes of santana,mick jagger,Keith Richards and van Morrison. In the mid 70's he spent many years as a manager of North Beach leather in San Francisco and new York City. Eventually opening their first store in Las Vegas Joseph fell in love with the valley and all its glory and made Las Vegas his permanent home. In 1994 Joseph pursued a career in real estate which he mastered for many years. Joseph enjoyed golfing ,going to Broadway plays,traveling and visiting California beaches. If Joseph were to speak to us today he would remind us of the words of a childhood mentor. Otis worked hard most of his life, he was a brick and stone mason for several years. He was a chain thrower in the oil fields, built pie safes, and worked for the shoe factory at a younger age. Along with working, Otis enjoyed raising dogs with his wife, Stag Beer, and cars. Otis loved visiting with family and friends and dining at his favorite restaurant Hoveys Diner in Olney, Illinois. 7016 | Ottawa - William L. Ragan, 79, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, at his home in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on January 29, 1944, in Quenemo, Kansas, the son of William and Emma (Mollett) Ragan. Bill, as he was known to all, had lived most of his life in Quenemo, graduating from Quenemo High School in 1961. He had lived east of Lyndon for several years before moving to Ottawa 4 years ago. Bill had been a butcher at Skips Grocery Store, and then spent nearly 40 years running Wild Bill & Miss Ellie's in Quenemo and then E-Z Rock Cafe in Lyndon. He had been a member of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church near Lyndon. On February 2, 1983, Bill was united in marriage to Elnora (Schrader) in Melvern. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma; his son, Travis Ragan; by a grandson; and by three brothers and six sisters. Bill is survived by his wife Elnora of the home; his two sons, Ron (Kay) Ragan of Overland Park and Mike Ragan of Quenemo; his stepson, Jim (Anita) Dilly of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; his three stepdaughters, Sherry (Larry) Foote of Veguita, New Mexico, Carrie (Scott) Hoffman of Vassar and Shelly (Steve) Criqui of Melvern; his sister, Rita Dean of Hawthorne, California; nineteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 7017 | Otto C. Schofield, a veteran of World War II army service, died April 30 at the Marion veterans hospital from a perforated ulcer of the stomach. He had lived his life in the Cisne vicinity and was never married. Otto C. son of Charles T. and Emma Jane Porter Schofield, was born in Wayne county February 21, 1901. He served with an army medical detachment from October 12, 1942 to March 8, 1943. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Omer, and one sister, Mildred. Surviving are five sisters, Mae Homan, Lela Hilliard, Faye Truax, Violet Truax, and Gladys Smith. The Cisne Gresham Post No. 603, American Legion, was in charge of military rites. She passed away on Aug. 22, 1999. Immel was a carpenter and oil field worker. He enjoyed hunting and showing his dogs. He is survived by brothers, Edward (Betty Ann) Stanfield of St. Louis and Robert (Sue) Stanfield of Louisville; and sisters, Bonnie (Rolla) Barbee of Louisville and Alice Willison of Effingham. 7028 | P. B. Dow, farmer, P. O. Xenia, was born in Bellefontaine, Logan Co., Ohio, May 5, 1840, to Robert and Harriet (Brewster) Dow. The father was born in Scotland, near Crief, but came to the United States when only live years of age. He is yet living, and at the advanced age of seventy years. The mother was born in Pennsylvana, and died when our subject was small. She was the mother of five sons, four of whom yet surviveone son died in 1878. Mr. Robert Dow has been married three times. By the second wife, however, he had no child, but has a daughter by the third wife. His occupation has always been that of farmer, but is now retired from active life. Our subject was reared on the farm and educated in the schools of his native county. He has made farming his occupation during life, and has met with success, as he now owns a farm of 240 acres of well -improved land. On his farm there are never- failing springs of pure water, and also an outcropping of coal in a four-inch vein. In the spring of 1864, he enlisted in the One Hundred and Thirty-second Ohio Infantry. Soon afterward, however, he raised a company for the One Hundred and Ninety-first Ohio Infantry, and was elected Captain of the company. He then served as Captain of Company F till receiving his discharge in September, 1865. During his service, he was in the Army of the Potomac, participating in all the engagements on the Peninsula and around Richmond during his time of service. After returning from the army, he again engaged in farming in Ohio, but in 1871 came to Clay County, Ill., to his present farm. In April, 1869, he was married, in his native county in Ohio, to Miss Sallie E. Patterson, a native of Washington County, Penn. This union has been blessed with the following named children: Stewart P., Robert B., William S., D. Jay, Mary Nina and Brewster. He and wife are members of the United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her husband Bob, two sons Dennis Van Fossen and friend Mindy Bowling of Mooresville, IN and Michael Van Fossen and friend Bobby Tillery of Redwood City, CA; one daughter Diana Corry and husband Bill of Dundas, IL; two sisters Freida Foster and Juanita Brassie both of Olney, IL, seven grandchildren Jed Van Fossen, Quintin Van Fossen, Lacey DeMaire, Kalebb Van Fossen, Kylie Corry, Skylar Hampton, Logan Corry, and three great-grandchildren Elaine Layman, Tristyn DeMaire, and Kinsi Van Fossen Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Several brothers and sisters and one daughter Michelle (Van Fossen) Decker who died in 2001. 7044 | Patrica Ann Schwermin Hagen passed away on Aug. 11, 2015 in Gastonia, North Carolina. Patricia was born Aug 30, 1932 to Urban and Ann (Tedrick) Schwermin in Effingham, Illinois. She attended Effigham schools and graduated in 1950 from Effingham High School. On Aug. 23, 1953, she married Lubert D. Hagen. To this union four children were born. She is survived by 2 sons, Daniel of Charleston, Illiois, Lance of San Antonia, Texas. Two daughters, Peggy Hagen Lohman of Chicago, Illinois and Gail Hagen of Gastonia, North Carolina. Also surviving are four grandsons and two great grandchildren. 7045 | Patricia "Pat" A. Beal, 77, of Noble, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes. She was born on July 3, 1941 in Richland Co., IL, the daughter of John and Allene (Burton) Richardson. She married Jack Beal on May 2, 1958 in Noble, IL, and he survives her. Pat was a tremendous cook and enjoyed sharing her talent with everyone who sat at her table, which was seldom empty. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She and her husband, Jack, took pleasure in traveling all over the country. She also enjoyed camping and sitting around the campfire with friends. She looked forward to her morning phone calls with close friends and family. Pat is survived by her husband, Jack Beal of Noble; Son, Jackie Beal and wife Linda of Browns, IL; Daughter, Cathy Beal of Olney; Daughter, Vickie Kessler and husband Brad of Noble; Daughter, Connie Rudolphi and husband Doug of Effingham, IL; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great grandchildren; Brothers, Jerry (Darlene) Richardson, Jim (Julia) Richardson, Bart Richardson, Sisters, Eva (Rick Toumbs) Maroon and Ginger (Rick) Harper; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on March 02, 2019 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with a visitation two hours before service time. 7046 | Patricia A. Hamilton, 61, of Bruceville, Ind., passed away at 10:57 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at her residence with her family at her side. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bruceville Christian Church and prior to funeral services on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Pastor Glenn Turner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, Ind. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hamilton was born November 1, 1946, in Richland County, the daughter of William E. and Betty R. (Kutch) Doherty. She married Jack W. Hamilton. He survives. She was a graduate of East Richland High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. She worked for Wickes Lumber for more than 30 years and continued with Timber Roots Lumber as an Inventory Supervisor. She was a member of Bruceville Christian Church and enjoyed the simple pleasures that life offered her. She was devoted to her family, her husband, her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband, Jack W. Hamilton; her children, Clint Durall and his wife, Beth, of Carlisle, Ind., Jacquelyn Jackie Durall, of Vincennes, Ind., and Jeff Hamilton and his wife, Tauyna, of Salina, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Hallie Durall, Ashley Durall, Levi Hamilton, Khaleb Harris, Lindsey Hamilton, Kyreque Owen and Cierra Hamilton; brothers, William Anthony Doherty, of Vincennes, Ind., and Jeffrey Wayne Doherty and his wife, Barb, of Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Sean Durall, in 1970; her parents, William E. and Betty R. Doherty; and sister, Mary Lou Roberts. 7050 | Patricia Ann Cooper, age 82, of Flora, and formerly of Louisville, Illinois, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 23, 2023, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. She was born February 26, 1941, in Clay County, the daughter of Isom Colclasure and Marie Crouse. She was united in marriage to Everett Leon Cooper on November 23, 1960, at Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church and together they have shared 62 wedding anniversaries. Patricia enjoyed dancing, going to the beach, and listening to Blues music. She and Leon had traveled over 150,000 miles on motorcycles and often attended tattoo shows all over the country. She had been a member of the Flora Eagles for over 35 years and was a member and attended Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband: Leon Cooper of Flora; a son: Justin Cooper (Marsha Henson) of Rinard; 2 sisters: Peggy (Bob) Rush of Monroe, Ohio, and Lola (Eldon) Galloway of Newton; 3 brothers: Jerry (Peggy) Colclasure of Dallas, Georgia, Larry (Carol) Colclasure of Middletown, Ohio, and Carl (Robin) Wattles of Clay City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother: Dennis Colclasure; and her beloved dog, Charlie. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. A visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
