9155 Stephen "Dylan" Sharp, 66, of Flora, died on Monday, September 20, 2021 at his home.

Dylan was born on February 13, 1955 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Raymond "Butch" Earl Sharp and Etta Marie (Mitchell).

Dylan liked hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed attending "church" with friends at the river camp. Dylan took pleasure in working; whether it was in the oilfield working for Bangert's Well Service or bar tending. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his close friends at the VFW, whom he referred to as his family. Dylan loved spending holidays with all of his family at his brother Alan's house, where he was always in charge of frying the turkey.

Dylan is survived by his fiancée, Shelly "Shell" Goyner of Clay City; son, Stephen Sharp and wife Ashley of Olney; grandchildren, Landon, Blayn, Gabriel, Davian, Mason, and Lynae Sharp; brothers, Benny Sharp of Clay City and Allen Sharp of Clay City; step-sister, Sarah Williams and husband Darren of Flora; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Darbie Sharp; and brothers Dennis Sharp and Jerry Sharp.

Cremation Rites were accorded, and a memorial service will be held for Dylan at the VFW in Flora at a later date.

9157 Stephen E. Bangert, age 53, of Clay City, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

He was born September 24, 1961 in Olney, Illinois to Maurice and Kaaren J. (Osborn) Bangert.

Stephen was an accomplished musician playing the piano and saxophone, and was often an accompanist for students participating in music contests. He served on the Clay City Village Board where he assisted with the improvement of the Clay City Cemetery, and was a member of the Clay City Christian Church.

Stephen is survived by his parents: Maurice and Kaaren Bangert of Clay City; a sister: Kathy (Phil) Leonard of Effingham; niece: Megan (James) Doerfler of New Berlin; nephew: Aaron Leonard of Effingham; two great-nieces: Addyson and Bryleigh Doerfler; aunt: Jona (Mike) Uptmor of Robinson; and uncles: Ron (Naomi) Bangert of Clay City and Larry Osborn of Boulder City, Nevada. He will also be missed by his beloved little dog, "Max". He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Memorials may be made to Fur A Good Paws or Clay City Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.

A graveside service was held May 23, 2015 at the Clay City Cemetery. Frank & Bright Funeral Home assisted the family.

9158 Stephen Ellis Hutchings, age 78, passed away yesterday afternoon in the New Eden Nursing Home where he had been a patient for the past week. Mr Hutchings had been in failing health for the past few years.

He was born in Clark County on December 12, 1872, the son of the late William and Mollv Hutchings.

He and Mrs. Hutchings moved to Richland County 46 years ago and became well known residents of the Elbow community, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary there on October 1, 1943.

Mr. Hutchings is survived by his wife, Amanda Jane, and the following children: Mrs Tillie Housel of Decatur, Elmer Hutchings of Allendale, Mrs Beadie Shelton of Humbel, Texas, Zollie (Bud) Hutchings of Olney, Mrs. Ollie Chance of Lawrenceville, Dennis Hutchings of Parkersburg, Mrs. Violet Reynolds of Elkhart, Indiana, Sylvan Hutchings of Billet, Mrs. Dora Schrader of Olney, Mrs. Letha Mae Laws of Sumner, Ellis Hutchings of Decatur, Mrs. Gracie Goss of Newton, and Mrs. Marjorie Staton of Elkhart, Indiana.

Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Clapp of Clark County. There are 39 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Two daughters have preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Dush Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. David R. Beecher in charge. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

9160 Stephen received his Bachelor"s Degree in Photography from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

From September 8, 1966 until September 16, 1968, he honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Warm. During his service, he proudly received two purple hearts, the bronze service star and numerous other decorations and commendations.

For over 35 years, he was the owner of House of Nutrition, retiring in 2015. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Stephen was an avid reader and history buff.

He enjoyed reading mystery novels. He liked to spend time traveling in his R.V., hiking and camping.

She is survived by one daughter: Rose M. (John) Grisamore of Springfield; six grandchildren: John Grisamore of Wylie, TX, Rhonda Grisamore of Champaign, Terri McNear of Springfield, James, Tony and Randy Ritz; one sister: Sadie Little of Flora, IL; one brother: Everett (Helen) Nash of Flora, IL and several nieces and nephews .

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Alberta Clark of Springfield and Hazel Krutsinger of Rock Falls; one brother: Clinton Nash of Xenia, IL; two daughters: Margery Baugh and Marcella D. Ritz and one grandson: Michael D. Grisamore

She was a member of Elliott Avenue Baptist Church. In 1980 she attended and graduated with her GED at Lawrence Adult School in Springfield. She was an assembler at Sangamo Electric for 35 years retiring in 1978. She worked at Horace Mann for three and a half years, retiring in 1984.

Visitation: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

9166 Steven L. Cameron, age 66, of Hord, Illinois passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at his home.

He was born September 20, 1955, in Effingham, the son of Leland Eugene “Gene” and Mariola Jean (Barnett) Cameron. He was united in marriage to Debra Kay Lindsey on March 9, 1973, at the Louisville Methodist Church and together they have shared 49 wedding anniversaries.

Steve enjoyed time spent outdoors fishing, hunting, boating, and gardening. He worked cutting timber as an independent logger. He was skilled at woodworking and over the years had made numerous crosses for area churches. Steve was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) and was the Illinois State Champion in 2003, going on to place 6th in the World Trapshooting Competition later that year. He was of the Christian faith and had attended several area churches. He greatly enjoyed his time spent traveling and visiting with the many people he and Debbie met along the way.

He is survived by his wife: Debbie Cameron of Hord; a son: Jason (Christine) Cameron of Talladega, Alabama; sister-in-law: Evelyn (Arnie) Lewison of Kimball, Nebraska; brothers-in-law: Donald (Gail) Lindsey of Flora and Harold Dean Lindsey of Noble; a cousin: Kathryn (Nevel Marvin) Jones of Louisville; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, his cat Teagger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Lawrence “Larry” Dean Cameron and Robert “Bob” Wayne Cameron.

There will be no services. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted through the funeral home.

9168 Steven S. Brown, 95, of Decatur, IL, passed away 5:25 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at McKinley Court Care Center, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Salem Baptist Church, Decatur.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, are assisting the family with the arrangements.

Steven was born June 29, 1917, in S. , IL, the son of Elmer and Winnie Brown. He married Dorothy F. Payne on June 26, 1943 in Morganfield, KY.

Steven was a WWII Army veteran, receiving the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Army Good Conduct Metal. He was a 50 year member of Salem Baptist Church. Steven was an ordained minister and would often fill in at the pulpit and was involved with the visitation ministry, visiting nursing homes, hospitals and those shut-in.

Steven was a retired Airmail clerk with the USPS. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Surviving are his wife Dorothy of 69 years, of Decatur; sons Rick (Kathy) Brown of Covington, GA, Dennis Brown of Decatur, IL, and Steven (Angie) Brown of Rock Hill, SC; two grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Dean (Shirley) Brown of Clay City, IL and Paul (Dorothy) Brown of W. Frankfort, IL; and sister Noma Inglesten of FL.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.

9170 Stewart "Stew" Wade Noll passed away Wednesday, January 21st, 2015 at Hospice Savannah.

A native of Olney, Illinois, he was the son of Joseph Noll and Julia Hilderbrand Noll.

Stew was a member of Sailor Springs Baptist Church in Sailor Springs, Illinois and a graduate of ITT Tech in Evansville, Indiana. In Savannah he had worked as a Tour Guide with Old Town Trolley for over five years.

Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vicki Martell, he is survived by two sisters, Judy Murphey (Tim) of Flora, Illinois & Karen Morris (David) of Clay City, Illinois and a brother, Calvin Noll (Carletta) of Clay City, Illinois; also, an aunt, Leola Ruth Thacker of Sumner, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family has requested that donations be made to Fur A Good Paws, P.O. Box 294, Flora, Illinois, 62839 or to charities related to the former Ryan White Foundation.

He was a native of Clinton county, but had lived here for many years. In 1913 he was married to Myrtle Crose and the widow and three children, Allen, Edith and Burtis survive. He also leaves two brothers, William of Frankfort; and Charles of Oklahoma; also a sister Mrs. Milo Curtis, of Bloomington. The funeral will be conducted from the Stockwell M. Joseph O. Burton, lawyer, Flora, Ill., is a native of Lawrence County, Ind., born September 15, 1844 The father, Alexander J. Burton, was a native of Virginia, and in early manhood went to Lawrence County, Ind., where he was married to Sarah Odell, a native of North Carolina. To them were born eight children, Joseph O. being the second, and of whom three are deceased.

The mother died in 1857, in Clay County, III., the family having removed here in 1852. The father then settled in Hoosier Township, where he engaged in farming. He now is a resident of Pixley Township in Clay County. Of the five children living, one, Melcurt H.is a resident of Dakota Territory; J. O. and Fannie O., of Flora Ill. ; Caswell R., of Pixley Township, Clay County; and Rebecca, wife of J. W. Edwards, of Indiana.

Joseph O. attended the common schools in boyhood, and when seventeen years old enlisted in Company D, Forty-eighth Illinois Regiment, under Col. Hayne. He was in the ranks just three months when he sustained the loss of the right leg, being struck with a shell in the battle of Fort Donelson.

He was discharged, returned home, and as soon as he was able, he entered the academy at Mitchell, Ind., entering that institution in the winter of 1862, and completed the course in the spring of 1866. During the school course, he devoted considerable time to the study of law, and for two years following prosecuted this study principally under the Hon. B. J. Rotan, of Louisville, Ill., and Hon. G. W. Henry, then of Louisville, Ill. Mr. Burton was admitted to practice in the courts of Illinois in 1868, since which time he has been a member of the Clay County bar, with the exception of a few months.

In 1876, he received the nomination, on the Republican ticket, for State's Attorney, but, in common with the entire county ticket, sustained a defeat.

He is a member of the A. O. U. W., G. A. R, and of the Baptist Church.

He was married to Miss Elizabeth J. Blair, on the 2Sth of March, 1867, at Louisville, Clay County. She was born in Indiana on the 11th of April, 1847, and is a daughter of Jonathan and Lettie (Brown) Blair. The father died in 1862, while in military service, and the mother is still a resident of Louisville, Ill.

Their union has been blest with the birth of four children — Alva A., born April 1, 1868; Stephen H., born October 17, 1872; Joseph, born May 10, 1876; and Sarah C. Burton, born September 25, 1878.

9188 Subject enlisted June 3, 1862, in Company K of the Eighty-Seventh Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and served until taken prisoner at the battle of Harper's Ferry. Was afterward paroled, and discharged October 3, 1862.

June 29, 1863, he re-enlisted in Company B of the One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry,and served in that company until the expiration of time.

March 5, 1864. He re enlisted the third time, September 2, 1864, in Company H of the One Hundred and Seventy-Eighth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and served until the close of the war, being honorably discharged June 29, 1865.

Sue Lenear was born July 14, 1945 in Richland Co., IL to Harl and Alta Mae (Huston) Petty. She married Virgil P. Lenear on June 7, 1964 in Richland Co., IL.

Sue enjoyed reading, cooking, and making crafts with her family and grandchildren. She also was an avid animal lover. She worked for many years as an office manager at Richland Memorial Hospital Outpatient Clinic. Sue loved babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was an extremely loyal friend and welcomed everyone into her home and made them a part of her family. Sue's generosity and kindness will be deeply missed by all those that knew her.

Lenear of Olney; son, Micheal Lenear of Olney; daughter, Tammy Ochs and husband James of Claremont; daughter, Martha Pillsbury and husband James of MI; son, Matthew Lenear of Olney; grandchildren, Mandy Martin, Kelsie Barnes, Victoria Lenear, Macy Sorrell, Quentin Pillsbury, Anthony Ochs, Alex Lenear, and Tianna Pillsbury; great grandchildren, GraceLynn Martin, Zachary Sorrell, Jonalyn Martin, Madeline Sorrell, Carson Barnes, and Aria Lenear; brother, Clinton Petty of KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. .

She was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Gerald "Butch" Petty, Harl Petty Jr., and William Petty; and sisters, Patricia Jackson and Alta Lou Petty.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on January 12, 2022 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A visitation will be one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Interment will take place on January 12, 2022 at Crest Haven Memorial Park.

She previously worked in the office of Heartland Foods, Indianapolis, IN. Sue was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1967 and she attended South Side Christian Church of Robinson, IL. Sue enjoyed gardening and for many years she would enter her flowers and vegetables to be judged at the Crawford County Fair.
