- Vicky (Basinger) Sharp, 55, of Clay City, passed away peacefully at her home at 3:06 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018. She was born July 11, 1963, to Walter and Freda (Cornell) Basinger in Harvey, Illinois. Vicky married Richard W. Sharp on December 19, 1992.
Vicky was a family woman. She was a spitfire, full of sass, and a true redhead from her honesty to her attitude. Vicky fought cancer for her last three years of her life but in true red head fashion, she fought hard.
Vicky loved her children more than anything and though she only birthed four children of her own, many called her mom. She loved having a house full of laughter and being a safe place for all. No one will ever forget Vicky and her stash of wooden spoons. Vicky loved working with the civics association and being a part of the fall festival in Clay City. She was blessed with many friends who turned into family in her 55 years of life.
Vicky is now a guardian angel to her loving husband Rick; four children, Bruce, Alysa, James and Haley; grandson, Raymond and her first granddaughter who is expected to arrive in 2019; sister, Dawn Laird; brothers, Wayne Basinger, Glen Basinger, and Larry French, and step-mother Velma Downs, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Transformation Church of God in Clay City, IL. Visitation will be from 5 6 p.m. at the church.
Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Clay County Cancer Crusaders or Clay County Hospice and may be received at the church or Kohn Funeral Home, 201 S. Main St., Flora, IL.
