Assigned to and served with Company A, 712th Railway Operating Battalion, in the Ardennes and Rhineland Campaigns. Honorably discharged as a Private First Class on December 14, 1945 at the Separation Center, Camp Grant, Illinois. Earned The Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars, and the WWII Victory Medal.
