  Rev.Hira Byers, 81, of near Iola, well known Pentecostal minister of this area, died Wednesday morning at the St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham. Funeral services will be held in the United Pentecostal Chapel in Iola with burial in Keen's Chapel Cemetery, near Iola. Rev. Byers was a brother of the late Mrs. W. E. (Mamie) Smith of Olney and he was an uncle of Mrs. Thelma McClain of Olney. He entered ministry in 1912 and served as pastor of the United Pentecostal Church for 45 years. He married Jennie Rufty, June 12, 1915, Effingham. He leaves his wife: two sons, Franklin, Edgewood; Hira, Jr., Neoga; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Haum, Louisville; Mrs. Ruth Forbes, Barnhill; Mrs. Nona Dehart, Edgewood; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
