  George M. McDowell, 86, of Noble, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Florida. George was born September 13, 1935 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of Clifford McDowell and Margaret (Patterson). George enjoyed working as a welder and took pleasure in his welding projects. He had an incredible imagination and the mechanical ability to build it. George was a true do-it-yourself engineer. George enjoyed camping in Florida and riding his motorcycle. He also was proud of his underground home and would like to show it off to friends. George will be missed by all those that knew him. George is survived by his son, Scott McDowell and wife Connie of Olney; daughter, Vicki Shawver and husband Jack of Olney; special friend, Debbie Blank of Louisville, IL; grandchildren, Lacy (Kirk) Walters, Colby (Alexis) Shawver, Brittany (Connor) Dixon, Coen McDowell, and Cade McDowell; great grandchildren, Rylyn, Irelan, Parker, Brynn, and Case; sisters, Christine Guyer and Ruth Ann Hazel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gaylen, Merle, and Paul McDowell. A funeral service for George will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior. Interment will follow the service at Hanna Cemetery in Noble. Memorials can be made to Wynoose Liberty Christian Church.
