June lived in St. Louis, Mo., with her husband and her boys until 1975. She worked as a registered nurse in St. Louis and in Wayne County before transitioning to a new career with Wayne County Division of Family Services, where she was a case worker until retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Peach Tree General Baptist Church near Piedmont.

June was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a gentle, caring, and supportive soul who was dearly loved by her family and friends.
