  Husband of Hannah Matilda (Stull) Powless. Son of John and Lurena Irene (Harris) Powless. He may have married twice, both times to women named Hannah. Supposedly he married Hannah Stull about 1875, but he had at least two children prior to that date, William and Martha. He and Hannah Stull had seven children: one died in infancy, Thomas Cornelius, Clarence Arthur, Julia May, Hannah J., Oscar and Katie. Burial from death record in Wayne County, Illinois, 1886-1910, pg. 97. Name spelled "Powles, Cornelius S." in that record.
